The two have worked together before, most recently in 2018’s "Nobody’s Fool” with Tiffany Haddish.Goldberg has been trying to get “Sister Act 3” made for some time now. Let's make it happen," Perry said.More recently, Goldberg reiterated to James Corden on “The Late Late Show” how much she wanted to make the movie happen.“We’re working diligently to try and figure out every-, get the gang together and come back,” said Goldberg. The first "Sister Act" followed Whoopi's character, a lounge singer who was forced into the witness protection program and had to live with nuns in a convent. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Broadway soprano Rebecca Luker has died at 59. She was a three-time Tony-nominated actor who starred in some of the biggest Broadway hits of the past three decades. Sarah Fargo, her agent, says Luker died Wednesday. The actor went public in 2020 saying she had been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, known as ALS. Luker was the best actress Tony nominee in 1995 playing Magnolia in “Showboat,” the best actress nominee in 2000 for playing Marian in “The Music Man” opposite Craig Bierko, and a best-featured actress nominee in 2007 as Winifred Banks in “Mary Poppins.”Tributes for Luker flooded in after news broke of her passing away. Actress Kristin Chenoweth tweeted that Luker was “one of the main reasons I wanted to be a soprano.”"Her voice was soprano heaven," Chenoweth said. "I love you, Rebecca. I know you’re no longer in pain and already singing your heart out up there." 913
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Mayor Eric Garcetti conceded that Los Angeles reopened too quickly and again warned that the city was “on the brink” of new shutdown orders as the coronavirus continues to surge in California. Appearing on CNN, Garcetti was asked about an LA Times editorial that criticized the rapid reopening of California — which was followed by a spike in new COVID-19 cases. Garcetti said the decisions were made at the state and county levels. He added that LA officials wouldn't hesitate to implement new stay-at-home orders if the numbers don't turn around. California reported Saturday its fourth-highest daily total of new confirmed cases. 659
