Amazon wants to reduce its carbon footprint and give customers more control over when they receive their packages. The company found a way to achieve both in one new program.Starting Tuesday, all Prime members in the United States will be able to select a particular day to receive a week's worth of Amazon deliveries. After a Prime member enrolls in the "Amazon Day" service, Amazon will hold everything they order throughout the week, and it will deliver the items together on the customer's selected day. Amazon's new feature could persuade customers who place multiple orders a week to receive them all together. The company said that could reduce the amount of shipping materials. It may also reduce the number of stops Amazon deliverers need to make.By 2030, Amazon wants half of its shipments to be carbon neutral. The company says Amazon Day will help it achieve that goal: The delivery option has already eliminated tens of thousands of boxes since testing the feature in November, according to Maria Renz, Amazon's vice president of delivery experience.Amazon also recently introduced frustration free packaging designed to produce less waste and has invested in solar and wind farms.Greenpeace has 1252

After decades of silence, one of perhaps hundreds of sexual misconduct victims of an Ohio State University team doctor is speaking out for the first time, hoping his story serves as a lesson. The numbers are staggering: nearly 50 instances of rape, almost 1,500 cases of fondling. Those new numbers detail how widespread sexual abuse was at the hands of an Ohio State University's Dr. Richard Strauss. Many of the accusers are former OSU athletes. One of those shared the story he kept hidden for decades. For 14 years, he's been a trusted name in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A study released this week indicates that seeing a fake news story can cause readers to have false memories. The study was conducted by the University of California, Irvine. The researchers warn that fake news could have a sizable impact on elections. The researchers used six news stories, four real and two fake, involving last year's Irish referendum on abortion legalization. The researchers presented these news stories to voters. The study found that nearly half of the respondents were able to recall fake information, sometimes in vivid detail. Those who supported the referendum were more likely to remember a falsehood about those in opposition; those in opposition to the referendum were also more like to remember a falsehood about referendum supporters. Many participants didn't reconsider when being told some of the information was in correct. Researchers say that believing false information is simply part of human nature. “To some degree this is unavoidable," Cailin O'Connor, UC Irvine Associate Professor in the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science, said. "False beliefs are part of the human condition. It is sometimes very hard to figure out the truth given the nature of evidence.” 1222

A new makeup line has hit store shelves, and it is very affordable! The Dollar General has created its own line called Believe Beauty, and a majority of the products are under .Consumer reporter Annie Taylor tested the makeup to see how it compares to the high-end lines and if it’s safe to use.Believe Beauty’s foundation and face powder contained ingredients that initially raised some flags, including talc and mica.“In large concentrations, for example talc, if you inhale it, can cause lung disease,” says dermatologist Dr. Neina Dajani. “But in makeup and in small amounts, they are considered safe.” There were also a lot of preservatives on the ingredient list.“Preservatives come off as a bad thing, but it’s not,” Dr. Dajani says. “You don’t want bacteria and fungus growing in your makeup.”The manufacture who makes the Dollar General makeup also makes celebrity Drew Barrymore’s Flower Beauty and clothing brand Zara’s makeup line.“The difference is the packaging, the celebrity endorsements, and they may make sure they put more effort into the makeup going on more elegantly,” says Dr. Dajani. “The pigments are more high-end and the fragrance is more high-end, but the ingredients really are the same.”When using the products, it took a little bit more blending and more product to get the makeup looking flawless on the skin, but ultimately, the end result looks similar to a high-end makeup look. After eight hours of wearing, the makeup held up pretty well, according to consumer reporter Annie Taylor. The face got a bit oily throughout the day, but nothing out of the ordinary when wearing makeup. Over all, Taylor gives the Dollar General makeup a B rating. 1691
