SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are investigating a fire that destroyed a car parked on the side of the freeway in Logan Heights early Monday morning.According to the California Highway Patrol, The incident happened at about 3 a.m. on the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 at Oceanview Blvd.When fire crews arrived, the car was fully engulfed. Firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly.When the smoke cleared, deputies found a rag in the gas tank and says it appeared the car had been set on fire intentionally.No injuries were reported.Arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire. 613

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California's energy operator have issued a statewide Flex Alert ahead of anticipated high temperatures this coming weekend.The California Independent System Operator (ISO) is calling for voluntary electricity conservation, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14."With high temperatures in the forecast, the power grid operator is predicting an increase in electricity demand, primarily from residential air conditioning use," the ISO said in a statement.In San Diego, an Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from noon Friday until 8pm Monday from the inland areas to the deserts. The heat will peak on Friday and Saturday with temperatures ranging 5 to 15 degrees above normal.The above-normal temperatures and humidity will stick around through most of next week."Consumers are urged to conserve electricity, especially during the late afternoon and early evening, when the grid is most stressed due to higher demand and solar energy production falling. That dream retirement has suddenly been marred by worries about COVID-19 and a possible presidential action. According to published reports, President Trump is weighing rules to allow border officials to temporarily block an American citizen or legal permanent resident from entering, if there is reason to believe the person has coronavirus."Absolutely upsetting, absolutely upsetting," said Les Widd, 70.Details about the possible plan are unknown, but Widd has heard enough."It's violating your constitutional rights to receive treatment in your own country," said Widd.Widd says if either of them were to develop symptoms, they would have few options. Their hospital in Rosarito isn't accepting COVID-19 patients."In Tijuana hospitals, they are absorbing everything from surrounding towns. They're at the limit. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Awaken Church continues to hold indoors services, despite orders from San Diego County to close all indoor religious services due to COVID-19 restrictions.According to the San Diego County website, three of the Awaken Church locations have received cease and desist orders. The location at 7620 Balboa Ave. received a cease and desist order July 17, 2020; the Carlsbad location received one Nov. 16, 2020; and the Chula Vista location received one Nov. 19, 2020.RELATED: Churches pushing back against purple tier restrictionsIn addition, San Diego County put out a notice that anyone who went to the location at 7620 Balboa Ave. between Nov. 15 and Nov. 22 needs to quarantine for two weeks because of a community outbreak.
