SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A connecting trolley line to San Diego's airport has taken another step closer to reality.Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly signed an exclusive agreement at the Pentagon Thursday to redevelop the former SPAWAR facility, now "NAVWAR," into a transit hub. SANDAG and Navy plan to collaborate on a hub similar to "Grand Central Station" adjacent to the airport, as well as a modernized complex for Navy use."This new agreement is built on San Diego's strong naval heritage," Faulconer said. "The fact that it was signed by the Acting Secretary of the Navy inside the Pentagon sends the undeniable message that there is momentum and energy in both Washington, D.C. and San Diego to do something truly special with this property. It marks a huge next step in revitalizing this area into a civic asset that serves the U.S. Navy, the community and our regional transportation network."According to SANDAG, one option being explored last year would support housing, retail, and office space. The project could potentially run an estimated .8 to .7 billion, according to City News Service. Some of that funding could come from the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, which signed a 10-year agreement with airlines to fund airport public transportation.In September 2019, SANDAG officials and then-Navy Secretary Richard Spencer signed a memorandum of understanding to explore their visions for the 72-acre site off Interstate 5.Currently the site is home to more than 5,000 personnel, including Naval cybersecurity and information officials with Naval Information Warfare Systems Command. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - UC San Diego Health is opening a new clinic Monday in the Carmel Valley neighborhood.The 8,700-square-foot clinic, located at 6030 Village Way, will offer primary care and women's health services, according to UCSD Health. X-ray services and express care will be added to the clinic in 2021."Like all of our clinics, the Pacific Highland Ranch clinic is designed to support appropriate physical distancing, said UCSD Health Physician Group CEO Dr. Christopher Kane. "Patients can check in for an appointment and pay any copays using a contact-free option at a guest kiosk or with a mobile application."Walk-ins will be accepted at the clinic, which will be open eight hours a day, seven days a week, to address common health needs, including coughs, colds and simple fractures or sprains.In 2019, UCSD Health opened a clinic in Encinitas -- which offers pediatrics, primary care and express care -- and a clinic in Eastlake offering primary care, express care and imaging capabilities.UCSD Health also opened a clinic in the Rancho Bernardo area in 2018 that offers urgent care, advanced imaging, an optical boutique, primary care, women's health, occupational medicine, behavioral health, cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology and a retail pharmacy open to the public.Flu immunizations are also available at all clinics for the 2020-2021 flu season.An annual flu vaccine is especially important this year with flu season coinciding with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to UCSD Health. 1522

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 2-year-old girl allegedly abducted by her father in Chollas View, triggering an area Amber Alert, was found safe in Escondido Tuesday morning, San Diego police said.According to police, young Charli-Fae Harris was last seen with her father, Lafayette Harris, in the 1000 block of 47th Street at around 5:30 p.m. Monday.Police were notified of the girl’s disappearance by her mother. SDPD officials confirmed 31-year-old Lafayette Harris is under a restraining order related to domestic violence.After an Amber Alert was issued for the child and her father, police located Harris’ white Saturn vehicle in a parking garage near UC San Diego shortly before 6 a.m. However, Harris and his daughter were nowhere to be found.Harris was eventually tracked down at a construction site near UC San Diego Health System in La Jolla. ABC 10News learned Harris, who works at the construction site, was taken into custody without incident.Charli-Fae was found safe just before 8:15 a.m. in an Escondido apartment. Escondido Police said a woman connected to the child's father was watching the news when she realized she had the child police were looking for in her care, so she then called police to alert them. It's unclear if she knew the child had been taken.The girl will be reunited with her mother later Tuesday.Police said Harris will most likely face kidnapping charges and charges related to violating the restraining order against him, and said there could be more charges added as the investigation continues. 1536

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 56-year-old reportedly stabbed his neighbor after the man tried to shoot him with what he believed to be a rifle late Friday night, police say.According to police, the incident happened on the 4400 block of Bermuda Avenue around 10:30 p.m. after a 56-year-old walked to his neighbor’s house to tell him there was water flowing into his yard.When the neighbor, a 50-year-old man, answered the door he was armed with what appeared to be a rifle but later turned out to be a BB gun. As the man shot the gun, his neighbor was able to bush the barrel of the weapon up to avoid being shot.As the man tried to reload, his neighbor pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed his neighbor several times “because he thought he was going to get shot,” police said.Both men returned to their homes and called police. The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It’s unclear if any arrests will be made in the case. 965

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - With just a few days left of Daylight Saving Time, bicycle riders can go to the Central Library today to pick up lights, courtesy of the San Diego County Bike Coalition.Standard Time, when we move the clock back one hour, arrives Sunday morning, meaning that nightfall will arrive 60 minutes earlier.The Bike Coalition will hand out front and rear lights from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the library in the East Village at 330 Park Blvd.Coalition members will also encourage safe, nighttime commuting with safety information about riding in the dark.State law requires that people riding their bikes at night have functioning front and rear lights, according to the coalition. 699
