COLUMBUS, Ohio — Imagine this scenario, or for some of you, it's been a past reality. You're in the shower and the water suddenly shuts off. You're covered in soap. You go into distress. Then rage overcomes you.In a Facebook post, Cody Vickers documented a similar scenario that happened in Columbus while he was at a construction job. His photo shows a butt-naked man bathing in water spewing from a broken water main near North High Street in Clintonville, the Columbus Dispatch reported. He said, “It’s not every day you see a naked man come out of his house screaming and cussing ... then comes off the porch and finishes taking his shower where the excavator hit the line," in a Facebook post that has since gone viral, getting 137,000 shares and more than 14,000 likes."I was in the f****** shower. I got soap all over me," said Vickers, repeating what the man said when he was met with a trench and a fountain of water. He said the man slung his towel off and ran down the steps, across the sidewalk and over the trench where he met his temporary shower. The Columbus Dispatch reported that the construction crew hit an unmarked line and the man came outside seconds later with a towel around his waist."I couldn't believe he did that. Dude had no shame," Vickers told WEWS. 1307
Cotton Incorporated responded on Tuesday to a viral Facebook controversy surrounding a Hobby Lobby decoration that angered a customer. The customer shared a photo of a cotton decoration on Sept. 14, 2017 on Facebook, and said it is reminiscent of slavery and those who were forced to pick cotton. She called for the retailer to remove the item from shelves."We were surprised at the initial post because cotton has been sold in craft stores and used as a botanical decoration for decades," a Cotton Incorporated spokesman said in a statement. "Based on the responses to the original post, it does not seem that most people conflate a decorative choice with a regrettable chapter in American history."On Monday, Sept. 18, the "Cotton Stems in Glass Vase" item on Hobby Lobby's website was on sale for , marked down from .99. It is described as a natural decor with hints of the great outdoors, including large fluffs of white cotton finish on each stem. Cotton Incorporated argues that the cotton industry has changed since the days before the Civil War. "The U.S. cotton industry today bears little resemblance to that of the last century or the one before. Modern U.S. cotton is a socially and environmentally responsible industry that provides textile fiber, feed for animals and food for the growing world population," the spokesman added. Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Hobby Lobby had responded to a request for comment on the controversy. Hobby Lobby has not yet responded to a request for comment. Scripps regrets the error. 1627

Court of Claims Judge Christopher Murray has issued a preliminary injunction that stops the ban on open carry guns at polls in Michigan. The ban directive was issued by the Michigan secretary of state to prevent voter intimidation. An attorney for the state argued before the judge this afternoon that the ban was issued because of open carry protests inside and outside of the state capitol over the governor's COVID-19 lockdown orders and the criminal case against 14 men in an alleged plan to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. She also told Judge Murray they have heard poll workers are afraid to work on election day.Gun rights advocates argued the secretary of state overstepped her authority as one elected official and this ban needs to be passed by the legislature. The Michigan attorney aeneral says she will take the case to the Court of Appeals in this statement:"We intend to immediately appeal the judge’s decision as this issue is of significant public interest and importance to our election process."This article was written by Jim Kiertzner for WXYZ. 1068

Congress plans to unveil a massive bipartisan .3 trillion spending package Wednesday that will keep the government funded until the end of September, and the White House and GOP leaders say the plan has President Donald Trump's support. But questions remain whether the proposal can pass Congress without shutting down the government.Lawmakers have agreed on funding levels for every corner of the government with 0 billion budgeted for defense and 1 billion slated for non-defense spending, but the legislation also is expected to include policy riders like a bill that incentivizes state and federal authorities to report more data to the country's gun background check system -- commonly known around Capitol Hill as "Fix NICS." 746
