Their Facebook page is full of videos where owners scared off would-be thieves with an alarm or by shouting through a connected microphone.The company is also encouraging people to download their app. Even if you don't have a Ring Doorbell, the app will send you alerts any time suspicious activity is reported in your neighborhood.Also new this holiday season is the Amazon Key, an option introduced this fall. For about 0, you can buy a starter kit that includes a camera and a special door lock. Delivery drivers would be able to put packages inside your home.Amazon also has lockers all around San Diego that packages can be sent to. You get a code to open them to pick up your package.Meanwhile, the US Postal Service says people who are worried about theft can ship packages using the "Hold for Pickup" option. Packages are kept at the post office to be picked up. You can also require a signature for delivery, or re-route a package to a different address while it's being delivered. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Sheriff's Deputy Richard Fischer was re-assigned to administrative duties after a woman's allegations of inappropriate behavior surfaced this week.Now, a San Marcos woman is alleging Fischer did the same thing to her last year.    The woman is accusing Fischer of inappropriate conduct and touching in August of 2016, according to her attorney, Dan Gilleon.RELATED: Woman claims she was groped by San Diego deputy, files claim against department"Her house was burglarized during in the day and Fischer was one of the deputies that arrived to investigate the burglaries. They all leave," Gilleon said of his client's claims.Later, Gilleon said she heard a knock at her door."It's Deputy Fischer again. She opens the door and he looks at her and says, 'It looks like you could use a hug,' and without her consent reaches in and hugs her," Gilleon said.Gilleon added Fischer knew no one else was home."It shocks her, she's startled. The hairs going up on the back of the next," Gilleon said, alleging Fischer then uses the same ruse as another woman claims - asking to use the bathroom."Now he's deeper into the house and hugs her again. Now she's resisting and walks him to the door and he says - don't worry. I'll be in the community and I'll be keeping an eye out for you," Gilleon said.The second woman saw a news story about the other woman's similar allegations and recognized Fischer, according to her attorney."When she saw the story she knew word needed to get out. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego State University's Interfraternity Council voted this week to ban social gatherings on campus this fall.The Thursday night vote bans all IFC social events and requires that all IFC recruitment events be held virtually to curb the spread of COVID-19. IFC's social moratorium also prevents fraternities from hosting any formal or informal events at chapter facilities or in satellite houses."The fact of the matter is that COVID-19 is currently a very real concern in our SDSU community," Lee Abed, IFC president, said. “Because of this, we would like to ensure that our community sees COVID-19 have as little of an impact as possible. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to halt all social events effective immediately.”The ban only applies to IFC members and does not affect College Panhellenic Association, the National Pan-Hellenic Council, or the United Sorority and Fraternity Council. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Students at three Vista Unified School District secondary schools are pivoting to virtual learning on Thursday.The district confirmed Vista High School, as well as Roosevelt and VIDA middle schools, are making the switch after a positive COVID-19 case at each school.According to rules the district's School Board adopted in late October, if one school has two or more positive cases, the whole school will shift to virtual learning for 14 days. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to send a letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom requesting more reopening guidance, after hitting pause on reopening businesses last week due to community outbreaks.With Supervisor Nathan Fletcher as the only dissenting vote, the board voted to send a letter requesting state guidance on reopening wedding receptions, hotel meetings and conferences, street fairs, playgrounds, and team competitions.They heard from dozens of people pleading with them to help save their industries. "Our industry is struggling to survive. There are people still wanting to celebrate these events which is leading to bootleg events," said one caller who works in the event industry.Another woman called in to share the challenges of trying to plan a wedding." I've had to push my wedding back twice this year and have lost thousands of dollars due to the uncertainty of when private events will be allowed," said Rachel Lee.
