BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said more will be done to promote clean governance in 2016, including cutting red tape, punishing officials' misconduct and implementation of major projects.

The pact, signed by the two governments in 1996, provides that the investment on each other's territories cannot be nationalized, confiscated, or be affected by any measure that has the similar effect as nationalization. In case of nationalization for the public interests, the process should be done legally and investors should be compensated.

Li made the remarks while meeting with India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval in Beijing, who attended the 19th round of talks between Chinese and Indian special representatives on boundary issues on Wednesday.

Before the event, Zhang held discussions with more than 40 participants, including principal officials of the Hong Kong SAR government, non-official members of the Executive Council, some members of the legislative council, chief justice of the Court of Final Appeal and chief justice of the High Court, and representatives of District Council chairmen.

She also suggested that people-to-people exchange should play a bigger role in the cooperation so as to constantly push bilateral ties to new levels and broaden their scope.
