WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is deriding the nation’s governors as “weak” and demanding tougher crackdowns on protesters in the aftermath of more violent protests in dozens of American cities. Trump spoke Monday to governors on a video teleconference with law enforcement and national security officials, telling the local leaders they “have to get much tougher” amid nationwide protests and criticizing their responses. The days of protests were triggered by the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after he was pinned at the neck by a white Minneapolis police officer. They turned violent in several cities, with looting and mayhem, and fires ignited in the park across from the White House. On Friday, Trump derided rioters on Twitter as "thugs" and threatened to order the National Guard to shoot anyone looting in cities throughout the country. That particular tweet was hidden from Trump's timeline for violating Twitter's platform rules on "glorifying violence."Trump addressed the ongoing protests during a speech following SpaceX's successful launch in Florida on Saturday. Trump said during that speech that he hoped the officers responsible for Floyd's death were brought to justice, but continued to deride rioters.Trump has not made any public appearances since his Saturday speech. 1321

With cable, internet and streaming services, our bills sometimes feel like they’re getting out of hand, but there’s one thing you can do to cut a few bucks per month. Nick Chalm was spending more than 0 each month on various entertainment services. "It kind of gets quite expensive,” said Chalm. “At the end of the month, you end up spending hundreds of dollars on things you hardly use."So, Chalm looked at his bill to see where he could cut back and noticed that if he returned his modem to his cable company and bought his own, he could save. How much exactly? Well, Chalm’s Xfinity modem costs a month to rent. A new modem from Best Buy costs about . In his first year without renting, he could save around 0. The sec

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump and his top advisers are being pressured to disclose more detail about the intelligence that led him to order the killing of top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani. The general's death has greatly heightened tension with Tehran. Trump contended Tuesday that his decision saved American lives and that members of Congress will be briefed soon on what led to the attack. Defense Secretary Mark Esper tells reporters at the Pentagon that Iranian threats against Americans were “'days away" from being executed. Democrats are calling for more information to be declassified. 619

WASHINGTON, D.C. – For only the third time in U.S history, an American president faces the specter of impeachment.Having taken an oath, U.S. senators will act as a jury in the impeachment trial. A half-dozen members of the House will act as prosecutors and President Donald Trump will have his own defense team against charges of obstruction of congress and abuse of power."We're achieving what no administration has ever achieved before and what do I get out of it? Tell me. I get impeached,” President Trump told those gathered for an agriculture convention in Texas this past weekend. While impeachment trials have basic rules set out in the 19th century, senators can vote to amend them. Georgetown law professor David Super said that happened during President Bill Clinton’s impeachment in the 1990s.“They set up a bunch of special rules, but they didn't amend the permanent rules,” Super said. “So, the rules that we have go way back.”Then, there is the role of Chief Justice John Roberts who, by law, presides over the trial. Super said the chief justice’s role is critical, as he will rule over questions about evidence – though, a majority of senators could vote to overrule him.“There are a majority of Republicans in the Senate. So, in theory they could overrule the chief justice's decisions,” Super said. “But the chief justice was appointed by a Republican president, confirmed by a Republican Senate. And I'm not sure that almost all of the Republicans in the Senate are prepared to overrule his rulings.”So how long could all of this last? Experts say to look at it in terms of weeks, not months.“I don't think that either side has an incentive to have it go very long,” Super said.It remains to be seen whether or not witnesses will be called during the impeachment trial. The issue is bitterly dividing Republicans and Democrats – with Democrats arguing they should be allowed to call witnesses. 1924
