A Pennsylvania woman is accused of stabbing an 8-day-old baby last week, claiming the child was created "by the devil," WPXI-TV reported.According to WPXI, Tanishia Fielder, 32, was charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault after a man reported to police that he and the infant were stabbed by Fielder.Both the man and infant survived the incident, but their exact conditions were not disclosed. Fielder reportedly stabbed the infant near the baby's right eye. Fielder told police that God told her to kill the infant and dismember the body. The police said they found the knife hidden beneath a garbage bin behind the apartment building, WPXI reported.The man involved told police he and Fielder got into an argument earlier in the day and he saw her with a knife. 826

A rare and deadly complication from the coronavirus infection is now being reported in adults, after several deadly cases in children earlier this year.Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) was reported in teens and children after the start of the pandemic, with tragic outcomes. More than 1,000 cases have been reported to the CDC as of October, of those about 20 children have died.There are now more than two dozen reported cases in adults, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and it is being called MIS-A, for “adults.”The CDC warns that symptoms of MIS-A can present in patients who did not have COVID-19 symptoms but later tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies.“These patients might not have positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR or antigen test results, and antibody testing might be needed to confirm previous SARS-CoV-2 infection. Because of the temporal association between MIS-A and SARS-CoV-2 infections, interventions that prevent COVID-19 might prevent MIS-A,” the CDC’s report states.In children, symptoms have included shock, cardiac dysfunction, abdominal pain, and elevated inflammatory signs. According to the CDC, there have been similar symptoms spotted in adults.“Findings indicate that adult patients of all ages with current or previous SARS-CoV-2 infection can develop a hyperinflammatory syndrome resembling MIS-C,” the CDC states.The CDC’s report looks at 16 patients who ranged in age from 21 to 50, of those, nine had no reported underlying medical conditions. Of the 16 patients tracked in the studies, two of them died.The time between a coronavirus infection and the development of MIS-A is unclear, and varied widely in the cases studied by the CDC.Some of the patients had tested positive for COVID-19 several days before they were admitted to the hospital with MIS-A symptoms, at least one patient tested positive 41 days before. A search for a missing 5-year-old boy in Tennessee turned into a homicide investigation Saturday after authorities arrested his father.Joe Clyde Daniels' parents reported him missing Wednesday, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. It issued an Endangered Child Alert as hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement officers frantically searched near Joe's home in Dickson, Tennessee."After a three-day search, it was determined that the child's father, Joseph Daniels, intentionally killed his son sometime during the night of April 3-4, in their residence and then hid his son's body," the TBI said.The boy's father confessed to killing his son, Dickson County Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe said. 714

A report released from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services says a patient died after a nurse at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville selected the wrong medication to give them, putting at risk the hospital's ability to receive Medicare payments.In fact, the paralyzing anesthetic that was given to the patient by mistake is one of the drugs Tennessee uses to execute death row inmates during lethal injections.The incident happened in December of 2017. According to a report conducted by CMS, the patient checked into the hospital with a subdural hematoma and vision loss.The patient was sent to the hospital’s radiology department for a full body scan. When the patient told caregivers they were claustrophobic, doctors prescribed Versed, a standard anti-anxiety sedative.  The report from CMS said a nurse told the patient they were going to give them "something to help him/her relax."The patient instead received a dose of vecuronium from that unnamed nurse.  Vecuronium is a neuromuscular blocking drug that causes paralysis.  As such, the CMS report says it can also stop the body from being able to breathe, in a painful experience for patients, who remain conscious and aware."Patients can experience intense fear when they can no longer breathe.  They can also sense pain," 1418
