CASEY COUNTY, Kent. -- A man in Kentucky not only pulled over but got out of his vehicle to pay his respects while a funeral procession passed. The family was moved by the man's kindness and posted about it on social media and has since gone viral.Cecil Luster was a member of the U.S. Navy. His family celebrated his life yesterday in Casey County. Many drivers pulled over for the procession, led by the Patriot Guard of Kentucky. Cecil's grandson, Drew Richardson, says there was one driver, who was standing outside of his vehicle, who caught his family's attention."When my mom was talking about it afterward, there were tears welling up in her eyes, that someone actually showed respect for our family," Drew Richardson said.Standing with his hands crossed, it was a simple act of kindness that moved the entire family.Mark Meece says he didn't even think twice about getting out of his vehicle and he got the idea from a social media post."I've seen on Facebook where a soldier was standing outside in the rain, and I thought, you know, I need to start doing that to show respect. It was an inspiration to me," Meece said.The family shared the good deed on Facebook and it's been shared and commented on hundreds of times. Meece says the positivity of the social media post has encouraged him. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) — Thursday's heavy storm caused significant damage in the North County Plaza shopping center in Carlsbad, particularly to Homeroom Hourly Child Care. Homeroom's owner tells 10News that current estimates are it will take six weeks to repair all the damage to the interior."I was pretty pessimistic last night," assistant director Erin Devries told 10News. Shorty after, tiles began falling from the ceiling, along with a deluge of rain. Out of fear of danger from a soaked electrical system, the teachers turned out the lights, then evacuated the children from the building, seeking shelter in the Orange Theory gym next door. A crew worked late into the night pumping out the water. "Seeing all the stuff they can fix. Six weeks sounds insanely long, but it's better than having to close down indefinitely."Devries says Homeroom's unexpected closure is putting their clients in a tough position. CARMEL, Ind. -- A 22-year-old man stole a popular English bulldog from a family's yard last year, leading to a social media campaign to try and find him, police say.Reid Albrecht, 22, is accused of stealing a bulldog, named Gus, from a yard in the 3000 block of Hazel Foster Drive. The theft happened in October 2017. During the Carmel Police Department's investigation of Gus' disappearance, multiple people said they remembered seeing Albrecht with a bulldog that matched the description. Albrecht had been telling people he adopted the bulldog from the Humane Society, but neither the Indianapolis nor the Hamilton County Humane Society had a record of him adopting an animal.Albrecht was known to live with his father at a house about 1,000 feet from the victim's house.At the time of his arrest, Albrecht was in jail serving a 180-day sentence for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. The Facebook page "Gus is Missing" has nearly 1,900 likes, with many people sharing and commenting that they hope Gus will be returned to his home. Charlottesville, Virginia, is again bracing for journalists and protesters to converge on the city as jury selection begins Monday for the man accused of killing Heather Heyer at last year's Unite the Right rally.James Fields of Maumee, Ohio, is accused of plowing his Dodge Challenger into a crowd of counterprotesters during the August 2017 white nationalist gathering, killing Heyer and injuring several other people, police say.Heyer, 32, was a local paralegal and had attended the rally to speak out against white supremacy and racism. Her friends and families say she died for her beliefs.Fields stands charged with first-degree murder in Heyer's death. He also faces five counts of malicious wounding, three counts of aggravated malicious wounding and one count of failing to stop at an accident involving a death.Separately, he is charged with hate crimes in a 30-count federal indictment. Prosecutors in that case allege Fields espoused white supremacist ideals and denounced minorities on social media before traveling to Virginia for the rally. Once there, the indictment says, he drove his car into a crowd with the intention of hurting people he targeted based on his bigoted views.The 21-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the federal charges. It's unclear whether he has entered a plea to the state charges, though a trial would not likely be necessary if he had pleaded guilty.His attorney, Denise Lunsford, did not return an email seeking comment.
