Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris said Thursday that she would suspend in-person campaigning until Oct. 19 after she encountered two people who have contracted COVID-19.According to a statement from Biden campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon, a "non-staff flight crew member" and Harris' communications director, Liz Allen, both tested positive for the virus on Wednesday.The Biden campaign said that during its contact tracing, a member of the company that charters Joe Biden's airplane tested positive for the coronavirus. The Biden campaign said that the crew member was at least 50 feet away from Biden at all times, and Biden wears an N95 mask during flights. The Biden campaign does not plan on altering his schedule.According to the campaign, Harris was "not in close contact, as defined by the CDC," with either person. While she does not need to quarantine by CDC guidelines, the campaign has canceled her travel through Sunday "out of an abundance of caution."The campaign added that those who tested positive have not had any contact with Biden campaign staffers since thier diagnosis.Harris took PCR COVID-19 tests on Oct. 8 and Oct. 14, both of which have come back negative.Harris was scheduled to campaign in North Carolina on Thursday. 1276

DENVER (AP) — A black bear broke into a Colorado house over the weekend and left by breaking through a wall "like the Kool-Aid Man."Estes Park police say the break-in occurred Friday night and that the animal was likely attracted to trash.A Facebook post by the police department said: "Upon officer's arrival, said bear forcibly breached a hole in the wall like the 'Kool-Aid Man' and made its escape."The Denver Post reports no one was injured.Colorado Parks and Wildlife said bears entered over 35 vehicles and nine residences in the Estes Park area in the 10 days before Aug. 3. DENVER (AP) — A couple convicted of criminal charges in the so-called balloon boy hoax that fascinated the country more than a decade ago were pardoned Wednesday by the governor of Colorado.Dozens of rescue crews scrambled to save the 6-year-old boy after Richard and Mayumi Heene reported he had floated away in a homemade UFO-shaped silver helium balloon in 2009.According to the Associated Press, authorities said the couple staged the incident because they wanted publicity to pitch reality TV shows.But the child was never in the balloon. According to the AP, he was home in Ft. Collins.The couple eventually pleaded guilty, served jail time, and was ordered to pay restitution.Democratic Gov. Jared Polis says they don’t deserve to be dragged down by criminal records for the rest of their lives.“In the case of Richard and Mayumi Heene, the “balloon boy” parents, we are all ready to move past the spectacle from a decade ago that wasted the precious time and resources of law enforcement officials and the general public,” Gov. Polis said in a statement. “Richard and Mayumi have paid the price in the eyes of the public, served their sentences, and it’s time for all of us to move on.
