SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Three rescued pilot whales have been transported to San Diego to continue their recovery from a mass stranding in 2012.SeaWorld San Diego welcomed 7-year-old short-finned pilot whales — Ace, Ava, and Piper — to the park Monday from SeaWorld's Orlando park. The three whales are the only surviving pilot whales from a mass stranding event near Fort Pierce, Fla., in 2012.The trio was rescued and rehabilitated by SeaWorld Orlando, but the National Marine Fisheries Service determined the three whales couldn't be returned to the wild since they were dependent calves at the time of their rescue. The whales will also join Argo, a pilot whale rescued after stranding on a beach near Kamogawa, Japan, in 2004. Argo was transported from Japan to San Diego in 2012.The new pilot whales are currently adjusting to their new habitat at the Dolphin Amphitheater and will be introduced to Argo over the next several days, SeaWorld says.As part of the transport, two of SeaWorld San Diego's beluga whales have been relocated to SeaWorld San Antonio. 1065

"But San Diegans and visitors to our city really don’t often get a chance to meet the people and see the technology they use to defend the United States and our way of life."The week's schedule will feature several events, tours, and hands-on experiences:(Nov. 4-9) Fleet Week Softball Tournament(Nov. 6) Navy Kickoff Reception(Nov. 6) Enlisted Recognition Luncheon(Nov. 7) Fleet Week/SDMAC Breakfast(Nov. 7) Innovation Zone VIP Reception(Nov. 7-8) Student Stem Days(Nov. 8-9) Innovation Zone(Nov. 8-11) Veterans Art Exhibit(Nov. 8-11) Military Ship Tours(Nov. 8) Happy Hour Featuring Tim Hurley(Nov. 9) Military Family Tailgate & Football Classic(Nov. 10) Coast Guard Open House(Nov. 10) Military Family Day(Nov. 11) Veterans Day Parade(Nov. 11) Post Parade Concert Featuring Coffey Anderson(Nov. 12) Enlisted Golf TournamentFor more information on times and tickets for some events, visit Fleet Week's website. 1675

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Thousands of people enjoyed San Diego County beaches, despite the ongoing Beach Hazard Warnings. The National Weather Service announced there would be high surf, high tides, and strong rip currents on the San Diego County coastline. This Beach Hazard Warning continues until Sunday. Whether you're playing, laying, or even working on this July 4th holiday, spending time at Mission Beach was a dream come true. Especially if you were the Newman family, escaping the Phoenix heat. "When we left, I think it was 114 degrees," Bryant Newman said. They said it just doesn't compare. "We used to hang out a lot at the resorts there locally [in Phoenix], but we have been coming to California for Fourth of July for the last for five or six years," Newman said. But let's not forget about the Beach Hazard Warnings, still in effect until Sunday. "They did warn us about high surf before I left the hotel this morning," visitor from LA, Saira Kinuthia said. Kinuthia is not letting her two boys out of sight. She said while they are here for fun, safety comes first. "We had our talk, and if the lifeguard says that we need to come out of the water, then we have to come out of the water," Kinuthia said. Also keeping a close eye, there was a large police presence along the beaches and boardwalk. While most of the patrols were for alcohol, officers were also regulating the new e-scooter rules that took place on July 1st. Riders must slow down to 8 miles per hour on the boardwalk. But 10News saw many people zooming by. One was an accident between a double-rider and an elderly gentleman, walking on the boardwalk. All parties were okay. San Diego Police said they are giving many verbal warnings and a few citations for what they consider egregious e-scooter violations. Whether it's on the scooter or in the ocean, please remember. Safety First. 1870
