DENVER, Colo. – Aches, pains and stress are just a way of life as we get older, but there’s a new trend that claims to reduce all of those issues. It’s called light therapy.Fitness instructor Christa Dellebovi is among those using the therapy. “I teach seven to eight classes a week here at Rise Nation and I do my own workouts as well I lift weights 3 or 4 times a week,” said Dellebovi. "I feel it a lot of times at night. I lay down after the day and everything just tightens up, tenses up and after sitting at a desk for a while, I start to feel it in my hips and my joints just get tight."It wasn't until Dellebovi was introduced to light therapy that she started noticing a difference. It can be in the form of a face mask, a sauna or just a room filled with a certain colored light that's said to penetrate deep into the skin."Recently it has become popular with celebrities and the public in general in regard to inferred saunas, the idea being that it can help with inflammation,” said said Dr. Zeina Dajani. "Although, some studies have found the opposite."Dr. Dajani says light therapy comes with claims of reducing stress and pain while improving sleep. It’s become so popular, the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas opened the Blu Room using UV-B light, but Dr. Dajani says there are people who shouldn't use light therapy – those with autoimmune disorders."So, in that case, red and blue light may be harmful, but for the general public, they are safe."This new trend isn't cheap. A single session can cost around .So, whether you try it out, Dellebovi says it’s about more than just sitting under a light."The amount of noise we experience and constantly all day every day, I think anyone can benefit to take 10 minutes and just disconnect and spend a little time for yourself," said Dellebovi. 1816
Eli Manning, champion of two Super Bowl titles, retires from football after 16 seasons with the New York Giants. Manning won Super Bowl MVP honors following the 2007 and 2011 seasons. Manning is just one of five players in NFL history to win two Super Bowl MVP awards. He also earned Pro Bowl honors in 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2015. Manning was the first pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the then-San Diego Chargers, who he repeatedly warned up to draft day not to select him and refused to play for the team. After being selected by the Chargers, he was immediately traded to the New York Giants for fourth overall pick Philip Rivers.Manning started every regular season game for 12 seasons from 2005 through 2016. From 2015 through early in 2019, he only missed one game. But early in the 2019 season, after losing three of the Giants’ first four games, Manning was benched in lieu of rookie Daniel Jones. Despite the rough finish, the Giants paid homage to Manning's career on Wednesday. "It meant something to Eli to be the Giants quarterback, and it meant even more to us," said John Mara, the Giants' president and chief executive officer. "We are beyond grateful for his contributions to our organization and look forward to celebrating his induction into the Giants Ring of Honor in the near future." 1314
Cynda Murrow has been working at Walgreens for four years.“I get to meet new people, and I like to say hi to all of my co-workers,” Murrow said. She’s a person just like anyone else, but we all have something that’s a part of our story. Murrow's story includes living with an intellectual and developmental disability.“Some people don’t understand me, so that’s why I use a device to help me," Murrow said. "But some of the people speak Spanish, so that’s hard for me to speak Spanish because I don’t know Spanish. I know a little bit of Spanish though.”Cynda says she loves her job. Just like any job, some days can be challenging. However, she always finds a way to make it work.“(I have a) device that I use to help me speak if I have trouble," Murrow said. "I do have this button right here that says ’I’m using a communication device to help me speak. Please be patient with me.’”Advocates who offer support for people with disabilities say employment is an important part of life. That’s why national organizations like The Arc work to break down those barriers.“Employment is more than just getting a paycheck. Employment develops independent, self-esteem, self-protection, and limits vulnerability in mistreatment, abuse and neglect,” Luke Wheeland with The Arc said.In the past 30 years, there’s been a lot of effort to get people with disabilities into the workforce. It all comes down to seeking out the right resources. Murrow’s mom says she’s been educating herself on what’s good for Murrow since the day she was born.“I found that information is power, so I just learned as much as I could,” Murrow'’s mom Wayla Murrow said.Another resource Murrow’s family uses, is the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.“Vocational Rehabilitation is the largest provider of job placement services for people with disabilities in the country,” Eric Clark with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation said.Clark says Vocational Rehabilitation programs exist in all 50 states and serves about a million people per year. Those who have a documented disability are able to partner with a rehabilitation counselor to develop an individual plan to find employment.“In that process they’ll talk about what kind of employment are they interested in, what type of employment have they done before, what skills did they develop from that employment," Clark said. "But also, even talking about general life activities. Do they volunteer? Do they do sports?”Clark says a good reference to use when applying for jobs is the 2526
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - All it takes is a swipe, and the information from your credit card’s magnetic stripe could be on its way to the "dark net." Thieves plant skimming devices at gas stations and ATMs to steal your card info, but according to Delray Beach Police Detective Kimberly Mead, that is only half the battle scammers face.Next, they need to find a card with a magnetic stripe to hold the information."Anything that has a magnetic stripe on the back can be turned into a credit card,” Mead told WPTV. “Hotel keys, gift cards, gas station cards, anything that has a magnetic stripe."This includes lost, stolen and seemingly useless cards thrown away in the trash.“They are just going to be a piece of plastic to someone, but if [scammers] have a credit card number, which they obtained through the internet or from a skimming device, they can input that information onto the magnetic stripe [using a card reader],” Mead said. “Now that card is useful to them again.”Recently, Mead busted a Florida man for reprogramming credit cards with stolen information. “We see this quite frequently,” Mead said.In her most recent case, Mead says she was tipped off when the credit card number on the receipt didn't match the numbers written on the front of the card. Then, using the same type of card reader thieves use to re-encode magnetic stripes, Mead checked the internal data on the man’s credit cards. “When we swiped the magnetic stripe, the number that showed up on the screen did not match the number that was embossed on the front [of the cards],” she said.So what can you do? “This kind of activity goes hand-in-hand with skimming,” the Florida detective said. “Pay attention to the ATMs you’re using, the gas pumps you’re using.”Actively monitor your charges through online and mobile banking apps, and think twice before tossing any card with a magnetic stripe.“Cut it up or shred it,” Mead said. “Don’t just toss it in the trash.”Anyone can purchase a credit card reader. Mead says it is not illegal to possess them, but it is illegal to use them to re-encode cards. 2088
