INDIANAPOLIS -- Two teachers and a student at Decatur Central High School spent some time in the hospital on Monday after a man got into the school and tried to attack a studentA district spokesperson says anyone entering Decatur Central High School has to be buzzed through a locked door by an employee inside.  Tyrese Little, 18, was buzzed into the school along with family members who had students who attend the high school. The school spokesperson said he was in the main office of the building when he saw a student with whom he had a problem and went into the hall to confront him.“I saw the wrestling coach try to stop him and he couldn’t really stop him and at that point, most of the teachers in that hallway had detained this person and got a hold of him and they had him in handcuffs,” student Jayson Wagner said. “The wrestling coach is a pretty big guy, and he couldn’t even stop him.”A 16-year-old student and two teachers were injured and taken to the hospital to be treated. The school was never placed on lockdown and Little did not have any weapons on him at the time of his arrest. The school spokesman says a school resource officer was nearby to help take little down.Little is charged with battery resulting in bodily injury and battery against a public safety official.  1317

In the most direct confrontation between Israel and Iran to date, the two regional enemies exchanged fire for hours during a volatile night in the Golan Heights. The extended barrage of fire comes amid soaring tensions between Israel and Iran, two rivals battling for regional influence, and less than two days after the United States withdrew from the deal to curb Iran's nuclear program.Israel said more than 20 rockets were launched by Iranian forces in Syria towards Israeli-claimed territory late Wednesday, often criss-crossing across the clear night skies. A number of those rockets were intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome aerial defense system, resulting in bright and sudden explosions.Iran's leaders have not yet issued a response to the Israeli accusations or the military strikes, but if confirmed it would be the first time Iranian forces have fired rockets directly at Israeli forces.Israel retaliated with what appeared to be surface-to-surface missiles, and Syrian anti-aircraft batteries hosed the sky with fire in an effort to intercept them. Thunderclaps of Israeli artillery fire reverberated across the frontier between Syria and Israel, with the faint sound of impact echoing back moments later. All night, drones buzzed overhead, heard but not seen in the darkness. In a statement delivered shortly after midnight Thursday, a spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces pinned the blame for the rocket fire on the Quds Force, an elite division of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, which has forces in Syria and is often seen as the face of Iran's regional ambitions.Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus said the rockets, which were targeted at front-line Israeli military positions in the Golan Heights, were all either downed by aerial defense systems or fell short and landed in Syria.Conricus said Israel responded by successfully hitting dozens of Iranian targets in Syria in what he described as "the largest operation against Iranian targets" in years."Israel has hit almost all of Iran's infrastructure in Syria," Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said Thursday morning. "If it will rain in Israel, there will be a biblical flood on the other side." He reiterated Israel's stance that this latest offensive was not an ongoing operation."This is not a vast victory or the battle of Stalingrad. It's limited to us and the Quds force in Syria," Liberman said.On Wednesday night, state-run Sana TV, in southern Syria, carried reports that Israel had fired several missiles at the city of Baath in Quneitra, none of which resulted in casualties.A short time later, Syrian state-run media reported that while dozens of "hostile" Israeli missiles had been intercepted in Syrian airspace, at least two others had hit an ammunition depot and destroyed a radar site. The targets included rocket launchers, intelligence posts, military command posts, and weapons depots. No Israeli fighter jets were hit in the strikes, but Conricus said they came under heavy anti-aircraft fire. He added that "ground assets were also used to strike into Syria." 3048

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 16-year-old adopted son of a man killed in a house fire last week has been charged as an adult with murder, arson and auto theft, court records show.Jordan Marin-Doan, 16, was arrested on Saturday in connection to the fire that killed his adopted father, 45-year-old Jason Doan, last Thursday.Doan’s husband, Alan Marin, and their two other adopted children were able to escape the home safely.Marin told police he and his husband woke up to find a fire blocking their exit. Doan helped Marin and two of their children escape through an upstairs window, before succumbing to the flames and smoke inhalation."He saved me and my kids," Marin said. "He gave his life for us, making sure we were OK. He got me out with my kids and told me to take them to a safe place. That was his priority -- our kids -- making sure they were safe."READ | Indy fire leaves man in critical conditionAfter escaping the house, Marin realized his adopted son, Marin-Doan, was missing along with the family's Jeep.Marin-Doan was taken into custody in Adams County two days after the fire.On Tuesday, Marin-Doan was waived to adult court, court records show.According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, fire investigators determined a fuel commonly used in weed eaters had been poured on the carpet of a stairwell in the house.Following his arrest, Marin-Doan reportedly admitted to police that he poured the fuel out in the house and then lit it with a lighter.Marin told police that Marin-Doan had been threatening to kill everyone in the house. According to the affidavit, the most recent threat was made on Oct. 28 – less than a week before the fire.Marin-Doan allegedly wanted to kill his adopted parents so “he could get a cell next to his biological father in prison.”Police said Marin-Doan was not mad at the time of his arrest and said he did not know why he started the fire. He also allegedly told police he'd started another fire in the past at a different location. As of Tuesday evening, an initial hearing for Marin-Doan in adult court had not yet been set.  2104

INDIANAPOLIS -- A second threat was made to Noblesville High School in addition to the active shooter at Noblesville West Middle School, police confirmed Friday.Noblesville Police Chief Kevin Jowitt confirmed the threat to the high school at an 11 a.m. press conference on the situation at the middle school.MAIN STORY | Two shot at Noblesville West Middle School“We’re also aware of a secondary threat that has been made to Noblesville High School," Jowitt said. "We have multiple officers and a command post established at Noblesville High School there who are diligently ensuring the safety of students and staff there. We have not received any information that this has been anything other than a communicated threat."Two people, a teacher and a student, were shot by an unidentified shooter early Friday morning at Noblesville West Middle School. As of 11:30 a.m., police said they had the suspected shooter, a student at the school, in custody. The adult victim of that shooting was transported to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The juvenile was taken to Riley Hospital for Children. Both were reportedly in critical condition.Noblesville Middle School students were being transported to the high school to be released to their parents at Gate 5.  1283

INDIANAPOLIS -- Firefighters at an Indianapolis fire station opened the door early Friday morning to a one-of-a-kind request for help: A frantic woman, distressed because her pet raccoon was stoned off of too much weed. The raccoon, according to Wayne Township Fire Dept. PIO Capt. Michael Pruitt, had been exposed to "too much" of someone else’s marijuana, and its owners were worried it was overdosing. Not knowing what to do, they brought it to Station 82.“The raccoon was very lethargic,” Pruitt said. “She started explaining what had happened. There wasn’t really much we could do, it was just the sort of thing that was going to take time.”Recordings of Southwest District’s radio chatter show the raccoon had IMPD officers baffled as well -- at first, simply over what substance the raccoon was, in fact, high on.“Apparently they have a pet raccoon that got into their meth,” an unidentified officer is logged saying at 3:57 a.m.Listen to audio of police trying to decipher the situation below: 1008
