SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Voters in San Diego County will have fewer places to vote in person for the 2020 Presidential Election, but officials say they've increased the opportunities people have to make sure their vote counts.On Wednesday, the county released the final list of 235 "Super Poll" locations, where people can vote in person. Every voter will be assigned to one of those polls.That's down from around 1,600 polling places during the primary."Certainly our world has been upended when it comes down to all things elections," says Michael Vu, the County Registrar of Voters.Vu told ABC 10News the county had to do fewer, larger polling sites to accommodate for social distancing required by coronavirus guidelines. But, he adds that voters will have four days to cast their ballot in person.Those Super Poll locations will be open on Oct. 31, Nov. 1, and Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. On Election Day, they'll be open from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.Even with the extra days and hours for in-person voting, Vu says the best option for voters is to use the mail-in ballot that every registered voter in San Diego will receive around Oct. 6."We, in our county, have had a tradition and culture of voting by mail," says Vu, noting that 76.5% of all registered voters already signed up to be a permanent mail ballot voter.Vu says he has complete confidence that the post office will deliver ballots to voters and return them to the Registrar on time.For people who don't want to put their ballot in the mail, the Registrar is also setting up 126 ballot-drop off sites across the county. Doors to the "Hydro Station" opened Thursday morning in Chula Vista.School leaders say this is a new way to get kids excited about learning about jobs in the water industry. The Hydro Station will host learning exhibits and hands-on activities to introduce students to the ecological cycle of water, water conservation, water quality, and more. "Human beings need water," says Matt Tessier with the Chula Vista Elementary School District. "We need water to survive. That's one of the things that kids really understand."Four thousand five hundred kids will get the chance to experience the Hydro Station annually. Its located at the Sweetwater Authority's Groundwater Desalination Facility. The Hydro Station is made possible through a partnership between the Sweetwater Authority, Chula Vista Elementary School District and Otay Mesa Water District. There will be an official ribbon-cutting for the learning space this evening at 5 p.m. 1070

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two young teenagers have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the deadly shooting of a College Area man. According to San Diego Police, the two juveniles, ages 14 and 15 were taken into custody and placed into Juvenile Hall. “The names of the juveniles will not be released due to their age,” police said. 39-year-old Ishi Hampton was shot and killed on May 2 outside the “Iconic at Alvarado” apartments in the College Area. At some point, investigators say they shot him and ran toward Alvarado Hospital.
