There are virtual activities hosted through the fair, and one food vendor is still bringing fair food to the community. Chicken Charlie’s is known for deep-fried everything, from Oreos to meat, and this year, the new addition is deep fried taffy. While the fair won’t be happening, Charlie Boughosian has brought his trailer to the Grossmont Center in La Mesa to bring fried food to the community. Friday would have been the first day of the fair, so Charlie made it the first day of shop in the parking lot. “I’m feeling the same kind of pressure I feel on opening day of the fair,” he said Friday. LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- The woman authorities say was hit and killed by a suspected DUI driver Monday evening has been identified as 41-year-old Susana Gotell. Throughout the day Tuesday, flowers brought to the area by residents adorned the place where Gotell was killed. Meanwhile, the Santee man who officers say was driving under the influence could face first-degree murder charges.CHP says the driver, Michael Woodfill, 46, hit a fence on North Woodside Avenue around 6:30 p.m. When Woodfill tried to get back onto the road, he overcorrected, crossing both lanes and hitting the jogger.RELATED: Woman hit, killed by suspected DUI driver in LakesideOfficers returned to the scene Tuesday to reconstruct the scene. Woodfill had a DUI back in 2016 after officers say he was found with an excessive blood alcohol level. One month later, his license was reinstated with restrictions. Earlier this year, Woodfill’s license was also suspended after officials say he had no insurance, but was later reinstated five days later.When the crash happened Monday, Woodfill was driving on a restricted license. LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Church-goers in La Mesa attended a service Sunday even as a truck that crashed into the building Wednesday remained wedged in the structure. The large tree-trimming truck crashed into the side of the San Diego Taiwanese Presbyterian Church Wednesday. According to a witness, the crew in charge of the truck was working on the 4400 block of Harbison Avenue around 1:30 p.m. when the vehicle began rolling down a hill. Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time of the crash, though the church says several children and volunteers were close by at the time, calling it a miracle that no one was hit. "We all watched helplessly as there was nothing we could do," Rob Engquist, a witness, said. "Turns out they had gone out to reposition it, moved their wheel chalk out of the way, don't know if the parking break was set or what happened, but the truck was going down the road on its own."A witness also told 10News that the truck was originally headed for a home next to the church but hit a curb and careened toward the church instead. 1260
