Just some lucky ducks.After a call from a man who saw a momma duck quaking for help near a street drain grate, Charles County officers came to the rescue.It appeared that the momma duck was hysterically quacking because all nine of her baby ducks had fallen into the drain and could not get out.That's when Charles County Officer Mohler opened the gate on one side while Officer Coulby guarded the other side to save the ducklings. They were able to get five of the baby ducks out of the hole but struggled to get the others.A good Samaritan named Chad Marshell intervened and saved the day as he crawled 200 feet in the hole to guide the other baby ducks toward Mohler.All of the nine ducklings were reunited with their momma duck. 770

John Boehner is heading for the boardroom of a cannabis company, the former Speaker of the House announced Wednesday."I'm joining the board of #AcreageHoldings because my thinking on cannabis has evolved," the Ohio Republican tweeted. KILLEEN, Texas - Homicide detectives in Killeen say they have arrested a Fort Hood soldier in connection to the 2019 homicide of 32-year-old Chelsea Cheatham.According to a police news report, Grafton was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder.Back on June 3, 2019, the Killeen Police Department responded to the Days Inn Hotel in Killeen, where they located the victim, 32-year-old Cheatham. On September 2, 2020, the Texas Rangers informed KPD about the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) Program and the possibility of utilizing advanced DNA testing to help solve this case.After reviewing the investigation, the Texas Rangers and KPD identified 20-year-old Cory Grafton, a soldier from Fort Hood, as a possible suspect.Investigators interviewed Grafton about Cheatham’s death and collected a sample of his DNA. One of Grafton’s co-workers provided a statement to police that Grafton confessed to him about killing Cheatham.Investigators expedited the DNA test on Grafton’s sample, and on Nov. 3, the test results confirmed Grafton’s DNA matched the DNA found at the crime scene. (KGTV) - After serving the beach communities of Pacific Beach and La Jolla for more than 60 years, Pernicano’s Family Restaurant will be closing.Johnny Pernicano Sr., the restaurant's enigmatic founder, still comes every night, singing to patrons with his piano and accordion.“I learned how to play all the instruments just by being here every night,” said Pernicano.He and his nine brothers began opening restaurants across San Diego after World War II. As the youngest son, he started off making pizzas in his older brother’s restaurant. But by the mid ’50s, he went off on his own to build the restaurant that’s now on Turquoise Street on the southern edge of La Jolla.Since then, it’s served as the reliable home for birthdays, reunions, fundraisers and family dinners across San Diego.It’s one of three surviving Pericano’s in the county. Two of his nephews, now in their 70's, operate locations in El Cajon and Poway. They will remain open for the foreseeable future.The location on Turquoise Street will have its last day on Sept. 15.Johnny says he has leased the space out to a new family who plans on opening a new restaurant at the location. 1186

Koeberle Bull got on Facebook and saw several racist, cruel messages that used the N-word and wished death on her three African-American children.She didn't know the white man who had messaged her -- she lives in New Jersey, and he appeared to live in Kentucky -- but he had a gun in his profile photo, so she decided to call police in Kentucky and report him."I was in shock, I was disgusted, I was angry and hurt," Bull said.Little did Bull know that her call, and a follow-up police investigation, prevented what police say could have been a mass tragedy.On Thursday, after speaking with Bull, Kentucky State Police went to interview Dylan Jarrell, the Lawrenceburg man who allegedly messaged her. Police say they found him backing out of the driveway with a firearm, a collection of ammo, a Kevlar vest and a detailed plan to attack local schools."This young man had it in his mind to go to schools and create havoc," state Police Commissioner Rick Sanders said. "He had the tools necessary, the intent necessary, and the only thing that stood between him and evil -- between him in a school doing evil -- was law enforcement." 1139
