(WKBW) — The New York State United Teachers are holding a press conference on Thursday calling for a strengthened statewide mask mandate in schools, which includes masks to be worn at all times in school.The teachers union says it will release a letter to the state Department of Health calling for revised school reopening guidance.“The governor has said — and we agree — that parents and educators must be confident in their school district’s reopening plan in order for this to work,” NYSUT President Andy Pallotta said. “As we hear of disparate mask procedures and other issues in reopening plans across the state, it’s clear that the state must step in. According to several media reports, more than 20 passengers on an Air India flight from New Delhi to Wuhan, China, tested positive for COVID-19 when they landed.According to CNN, 23 passengers tested positive for the virus on the Oct. 30 flight; 19 of them were asymptomatic. The four symptomatic passengers were sent to a local hospital and were quarantined.The Times of India reported that AI officials released a statement saying all the passengers had negative lab results from certified labs when they boarded the plane en route to Wuhan.The Oct. 30 flight marked the sixth time AI had flown to China, and the first time to Wuhan, during the pandemic, Huffington Post reported.On Monday, India's Embassy in Beijing issued a statement saying that the Indian government would assist stranded nationals abroad. However, they did not link its effort to the Oct. 30 travelers to Wuhan."[The] Government of India is facilitating stranded Indian nationals abroad to return to India under Vande Bharat Mission on compelling grounds in a phased manner," government officials said. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) - Six months after the West Fire ripped through Alpine, residents still have an immense amount of work to do to rebuild.Colin Campbell's parents owned the Campbell Creek Ranch for 13 years before it burned in July. Campbell spoke with 10News in August at a benefit that raised at least ,000 for the victims of the fire.Sunday, on the six month anniversary of the fire, Campbell walked through the ranch, lending a window into his memories.Surrounding him, the ranch lay much the same as the day after the fire. Ashes and bricks covering the foundation of his parent's home, the pool drained, the white fence lining the driveway, melted. As he looked around him, he saw the ghost of what had been.He looked at the pool, and spoke of an old pact he made with his two sons, "at any time, on the coldest day of the year, I would plunge into the pool, and they always took it upon me to do it, and their timing was impeccable," he said laughing. His sons and wife would jump in after him.At the house, his fondest memory was of a train set his parents built for his boys. He described the wooden track built at knee height, right in front of the vast fireplace to ensure the kids were warm while playing happily for hours, "we spoiled them with trains."Over the past six months, volunteers and family members sifted through soot, unearthing treasures."Man it absolutely has been meaningful," Campbell said poignantly, "in fact there has been a picture of my wife, our wedding 23 years ago, that somehow, someway came out of the rubble."He was also struck by the signs of hope sprouting around the grounds, "you can see now it is greening up, in the mountainsides, they are growing back, and it's just incredible that the environment, they just reinvigorate themselves." He said the boys are young teens now and learning, while cleaning up the ranch, how nature prevails.Campbell's fight to protect the property is not over. "The erosion is our main concern," he said. With help from local leaders, sand bags held the weak soil mostly in place after recent rain.Campbell said he's incredibly thankful for the continued support of the community, and hopes in the next two years to rebuild and move his parents back onto the ranch. 2256

Aldon Smith, who was the NFC's Defensive Player of the Year, has a warrant out for his arrest on Monday after a possible domestic incident from the weekend, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Smith is wanted on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism, the Chronicle reported. Earlier the in the day, the Oakland Raiders released Smith. The incident in question was reportedly Saturday evening, and the victim identified Smith as the suspect. TMZ reported that Smith checked into a rehab facility on Monday. Smith has had frequent encounters with law enforcement. The Chronicle reported that Smith has three previous DUI arrests. He was also arrested in June 2012 when illegal weapons were found at his house during a party where two people were shot, and he was stabbed.  908

About 350,000 Ring doorbells are being recalled after reports some of them caught fire, and a handful of customers received minor burns.The 2nd generation Ring video doorbell cameras were sold for 0 between June and October of this year. The recall is of the Ring Video Doorbell model number 5UM5E5 smart doorbell cameras. CPSC describes the model as having a blue ring at the front, and coming in two colors, 'satin nickel,' which is black and silver, and 'venetian bronze,' also known as black and bronze. The models were sold with a mounting bracket and a USB charging cable.Ring is a subsidiary of Amazon and makes internet-connected home devices.The Consumer Product Safety Commission posted a notice on Tuesday explaining the recall. The device’s battery “can overheat when the incorrect screws are used for installation,” the CPSC stated.“Ring has received 85 incident reports of incorrect doorbell screws installed with 23 of those doorbells igniting, resulting in minor property damage. The firm has received eight reports of minor burns,” the CPSC notice reads.The agency urges consumers to stop installing the recalled product and contact Ring for revised instructions.Ring posted an update on their support page, offering instructions for installing the doorbell camera.“If the doorbell is installed correctly, there is no risk to consumers or potential hazard present,” the company stated. 1413
