The agency tweeted out several photos Monday morning that show the agent with a large cut on his face and what appears to be shattered glass in the patrol car. “Our agents face dangers like this one while maintaining the security of our nation,” the agency said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A classic Corvette nearly careened into a family's home Friday night, with a teenager behind the wheel. "Oh yea, we were just on the other side of the wall that she was just inches from hitting," said Tyler Churchill. El Cajon police say the 16-year-old driver was probably driving too fast down the hill."We have a lot of really nice cars that live up the street," Churchill said. "They come flying by all the time."She lost control, ending up with the car backward and on top of some cement blocks.Churchill and his family came running out when they heard the crash."We were all just hanging in the garage," he said. "I was changing a dirt bike tire, we heard a really long screech and a kind of gnarly crash, and we couldn't see anything because it was really dusty."Thankfully, the driver and everyone else made it out okay. "The first thing we did was run out and make sure she was ok," Churchill said. "I just can't believe she came down that driveway, missed cars by a few inches, missed my house by a few inches, I mean it was really just inches from everything, it was crazy." 1128

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two men were in custody this morning on suspicion of committing a home invasion robbery in the Skyline area.The victim and another man were inside a home at 7700 Skyline Drive around 12:30 p.m. Friday when two armed men entered the house, tied up the victim and the other man and stole items from the home and both victims, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.The suspects left the home and jumped into a waiting gold car, which lost control a short distance away from the home and became disabled, Heims said.Several people ran from the vehicle and when police arrived on scene, they found two men near the car, both of whom were detained and later arrested, Heims said.San Diego police robbery detectives are investigating. 784

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego State University football team announced Friday it has added a game against the Brigham Young University Cougars in December to complete its shortened schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The team initially received its schedule from the Mountain West Conference Thursday with a "TBA" game on Dec. 12. That game will now be played against BYU in Provo, Utah.It will be the second straight season that SDSU ends its regular season with the Cougars. Last year on Nov. 30, San Diego State defeated BYU, 13- 3, in what ended up being the Aztecs' final football game at SDCCU Stadium to snap a six-game losing streak in the series and improve to 8-21-1 all-time against Brigham Young.The BYU game will be the sole non-conference game for the Aztecs, excepting any possible post-season play.San Diego State opens its season at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, against UNLV on Oct. 24. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 14-year-old girl is the first child to die from influenza this season in San Diego.The girl, who died on Feb. 12, had an underlying health condition, according to the County Health and Human Services Agency. She had contracted influenza A, also known as H1N1, the county says, and had not received this season's flu vaccine.“Pediatric influenza deaths are very unfortunate. Our condolences go out to the family,” said Wilma Wooten, County public health officer. “It is extremely important that people get vaccinated because influenza can be deadly.”The teen is one of five flu deaths reported last week, bringing the county's death toll this season to 35 people. The other deaths last week were four men —ages 82, 73, 62 and 56 — and all had underlying medical conditions. Only the 82-year-old and the 56-year-old had been vaccinated, the county says.At this time last season, there had been 268 deaths.“Influenza continues to be widespread. If you have not gotten a flu shot, do it now,” Wooten added.Last week, 539 lab-confirmed cases of influenza were reported, compares to 476 at the same time last season.
