SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman who had more than three times the legal blood-alcohol limit when she crashed her SUV head-on into another vehicle while driving her three young daughters through Rancho Bernardo pleaded guilty Friday to felony child abuse and drunk driving charges. Mayra Alejandra Troncoso, 30, had a .29 percent blood-alcohol content when she drove on the wrong side of Camino del Norte on Nov. 12, 2018. Her SUV crashed head-on into an oncoming 2011 Jeep Liberty, causing severe injuries -- including a skull fracture and a brain bleed -- to her 9-month-old daughter, who was riding unrestrained. The defendant's 2-year-old daughter suffered facial injuries and her 8-year-old child broke a bone. The 57-year-old driver of the other car suffered broken bones, authorities said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A U.S. Army veteran pleaded not guilty in San Diego Wednesday to a pair of assault with a deadly weapon charges for allegedly stabbing an active-duty serviceman who, along with a friend, pointed out that the veteran's Private First Class badge was upside down on his uniform.Marc Dominguez, 42, who served in the Army in 2003 and 2004 as a Private First Class E-3, was ordered held on ,000 bail.Deputy District Attorney Kelly Rand told Judge Maureen Hallahan that Dominguez stabbed the active-duty serviceman and lunged at the victim's friend with a knife about 11:30 p.m. last Thursday at a Gaslamp Quarter bar after they questioned whether the defendant was in the military because a patch on his uniform was not attached correctly.The active-duty serviceman was stabbed in the head and bicep and sliced his fingers while trying to get the knife away from Dominguez, the prosecutor said. The other man wasn't hurt.Based on the prosecutor's statements in court, the judge found that Dominguez was a danger to the community and raised his bail from ,000 to ,000 and ordered him to stay away from the victims.A readiness conference was set for Nov. 28 and a preliminary hearing for Nov. 30.  1230

Harb Sheets, who is registered without party preference, has worked in private practice since 1994 and as a staff psychologist at the consulting firm Workplace Guardians Inc. since 2000.Her position does not require Senate confirmation.Brown appointed Debra Reed, 62, to the California Horse Racing Board of Directors. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Coroner's officials today said that a worker who fell 60 feet to his death while setting up a stage for the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio was a 49-year-old San Diego man.The worker was identified as Christopher Griffin, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Office. The Riverside County Fire Department reported receiving a call of someone falling from a roof at 9:26 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Monroe Street and Avenue 50.The venue for the festival, the Empire Polo Club, is located on the southwest corner of that intersection. Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene, fire officials said.In a written statement Saturday, the festival's production company, Goldenvoice, confirmed the death."Today, Goldenvoice lost a colleague, a friend, a family member. Our friend fell while working on a festival stage. It is with heavy hearts and tremendous difficulty that we confirm his passing. He has been with our team for twenty years in the desert and was doing what he loved. He was a hard- working and loving person that cared deeply about his team. As our lead rigger, he was responsible for the countless incredible shows that have been put on at the festival. We will miss him dearly,'' the company said.The Indio Police Department was investigating the death. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A pedestrian was fatally stuck on the Mission Valley (8) Freeway in San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.The crash occurred on the westbound 8 Freeway near Hotel Circle about 8:15 p.m., the CHP reported.The body was found near the center divider. There was no immediate word on the age or gender of the victim. The person's name will be withheld pending notification of next of kin.The vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene, the CHP said.The crash was blocking two lanes and the CHP issued a SigAlert at 8:35 p.m. 575
