As local municipalities and states decide whether to mandate facial coverings, Starbucks has decided all of their company-owned locations within the U.S. will require them.In a statement posted Thursday, Starbucks said they will require all customers to wear facial coverings beginning July 15.“The company is committed to playing a constructive role in supporting health and government officials as they work to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” the statement reads. “It is our responsibility to protect our partners and comply with local public health mandates. As Fire Chief John Alston Jr. spoke to reporters in New Haven, Connecticut, about a spate of drug overdoses on Wednesday, he heard shouting coming from behind him."We're getting another call of a person," Alston said.He quickly helped coordinate the response, and then returned to the microphone.That scene occurred the same day that 76 people were believed to have overdosed on some form of K2, or synthetic marijuana, officials in New Haven said. Officials responded to 19 additional reports of overdoses on Thursday, bringing the total to 95 cases, according to Rick Fontana, New Haven Emergency Operations Director.Almost all of the overdoses occurred in New Haven Green, a large park in the city's downtown.On Wednesday, 72 people were transported to the hospital and four people refused treatment, according to Fontana.There have been no deaths from the spate of overdoses. Amid a resurgence of coronavirus cases nationally, the CDC said it expects to see coronavirus-related deaths increase in 11 states through July 24.The states on the CDC’s radar are Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. The CDC said these 11 states will likely exceed the number reported over the last four weeks.The rest of the country should see either the same or fewer deaths related to the coronavirus over the next four weeks.The CDC projects that 11,000 to 31,000 Americans will die from the coronavirus between now and July 24. 607

An Arizona Coyotes hockey player was arrested in Scottsdale. Scottsdale police said 27-year-old Richard Panik was arrested for trespassing. The hockey player reportedly refused to leave the entrance of a local restaurant on April 8 at 8:50 p.m. According to police, Panik appeared to be intoxicated during his contact with officers. Panik was booked into Scottsdale City Jail for criminal trespass and later released with a criminal citation. The 27-year-old played 37 games during the 2017-2018 season with the Chicago Blackhawks before being traded to the Arizona Coyotes. He played 35 games with Arizona. The Arizona Coyotes released the following statement to Scripps station KNXV in Phoenix:“We are aware of the incident and are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation.  We will have no further comment at the present time.”   914
