As many of us look ahead to 2021, it’s probably with a mix of hopefulness and optimism.The Pantone Color Institute, the color authority in the design industry, has revealed that the Color of the Year for 2021 is actually two colors, Ultimate Gray and Illuminating Yellow.“The selection of two independent colors highlight how different elements come together to express a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting, conveying the idea that it’s not about one color or one person, it’s about more than one,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, in a press release.“Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted, this is essential to the human spirit,” Eiseman added.This is the first time a shade of gray has been selected. Next year will be the second time two colors will share the spotlight, the first time was in 2016.Pantone has been selecting a Color of the Year for the last 22 years. "It has to be organic. But Uber plans to take delivery to a new level by using drones.The company reportedly plans to launch a food delivery service using drones by 2021.   How soon could this happen? Futurist Thomas Frey says it’s coming whether we want it or not.   "With all the emerging technology, we still have to work our way through the crappy stages before we get to the good stuff," says Frey.   Delivering food to anyone anywhere is a challenge  "Delivering something like food is a lot messier and a lot more time sensitive than delivering a product we're getting from Walmart or Amazon or something, says Frey."Part of the problem with drones is that we have to get the FAA to OK deliveries like this, and that is not a simple thing to do."   And with the convenience, comes a price.  "Eliminate a lot of human labor in doing something like this, so the reasons companies are pushing this so hard is it gives them a competitive advantage,” explains Frey. “It takes much of the labor costs out of this arrangement."  Overall, the good side of technology usually outweighs the bad, Frey says."See, drones can be very dangerous. Well, you'll want to clean off those cans before handing them out!Investigator reporter Jace Larson tested soda cans for bacteria, and what he found was pretty gross.The cans tested came from a variety of places, including grocery stores, convenience stores, vending machines and cans stored in a home. All but one of the cans tested had mold on it.The highest mold count was 600 colonies of mold. That can came from a grocery store.This type of exposure could make people with compromised immune systems or lung disease sick.To put that number of colonies into perspective-- a flooded home could have 2,000-plus colonies of mold, while a condemned home could have roughly levels around 36,000.However, microbiologist Helene Ver Eecke, with the Metropolitan State University of Denver, says the 600 colonies of mold isn’t really a cause for concern.“Regular microbial load that we are constantly dosing ourselves with everything that we touch with everything we breathe,” Ver Eecke says. “It's just part of being human.”One soda can did test for bacteria levels that would be slightly concerning. The can—purchased from a convenience store--had the highest levels, with 3,700 bacteria colonies on it.But compared to dry cereal mixes, which can have up to 100,000 bacteria colonies and deemed safe to consume by FDA standards, the colonies found on that can were significantly less."There was one sample that came from a convenience store that had a higher bacterial count than samples, which makes sense because they were probably stocked probably appropriate for people to wear gloves when stocking," explains Ver Eecke.If you’re worried about the amount of bacteria, Ver Eecke recommends seeking other options."There may be other options for you a bottle or other things to try to help keep you safe." 1901

TOKYO (AP) — The five Olympic rings are back in Tokyo Bay. The rings were removed for maintenance four months ago shortly after the Tokyo Olympics were postponed until next year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The rings are positioned on a barge and stand about 15 meters tall and 33 meters in length — about 50 feet tall and 100 feet in length. The Olympic rings will be lighted at night and are situated in the shadow of Tokyo's famous Rainbow Bridge. The Olympics are to open on July 23, 2021, followed by the Paralympics on Aug. 24. Organizers are confident that 15,400 Olympic and Paralympic athletes can safely enter Japan during the pandemic. 659

Transgender members of the military will be able to re-enlist for service while President Donald Trump's directive barring transgender recruits is under review, the Pentagon has confirmed."Transgender service members whose term of service expires while the interim guidance is in effect, may, at the service member's request, re-enlist under existing procedures," US Army Col. Rob Manning, a Department of Defense spokesman, told reporters Friday. "Current transgender service members will continue serve throughout the military and continue to receive necessary medical treatment as prescribed by their medical provider in accordance with the Military Health System guidance."This is the first time the Pentagon has explicitly acknowledged that transgender service members will be able to re-enlist while it reviews Trump's ban on transgender recruits. 861
