BEIJING, March 29 (Xinhua) -- China on Monday strongly condemned the bomb attacks in Moscow's metro system, and extended condolences to the families of victims."We strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Moscow subway, and express deep condolences over the deaths," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang.He said China supported Russia's efforts in fighting terrorism, and hoped to enhance cooperation within bilateral and Shanghai Cooperation Organization frameworks, to safeguard regional peace and stability.Earlier Monday, Chinese President Hu Jintao sent a telegram to Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev to extend condolences over the bombings.Two suicide bombings hit Moscow subway stations on Monday morning, killing at least 37 people and injuring more than 100 on two packed trains during the rush hour, according to Russian officials.It has been confirmed that the rush-hour blasts were set off by two female suicide bombers, who probably were linked to terrorist groups in the North Caucasus.

It said the two sides had also agreed to carry out more top-level visits to further promote mutual trust and discuss ways to boost the transparency of defence policies.Both sides said maritime security was crucial in keeping maritime trade routes open, and agreed to organize a joint maritime exercises with naval ship visits in the future and to continue exchanges on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.The two countries agreed to enhance exchanges between the two armies and to push ahead exchanges of mid-level and junior officers in such areas as information sharing, peace-keeping, medical treatment and sports.Guo arrived in Australia on Tuesday for a four-day official goodwill visit at the invitation of Faulkner. BEIJING, May 12 (Xinhua) -- The United States wants to work with China to expand the global economy and promote the development of the green economy, said a U.S. Commerce Department official Wednesday in Beijing.Cameron Kerry, General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce, said at a news briefing at the U.S. embassy that the two countries faced an important time in their relations."My visit here this week is an appetizer in the banquet of events between the U.S. and China."According to U.S. Commerce Department, Commerce Secretary Gary Locke will lead the first cabinet-level trade delegation to China next week to promote exports of leading technologies as part of President Barack Obama's state export plan to increase U.S. employment.The department said the mission was intended to promote exports of leading U.S. technologies related to clean energy, energy efficiency, and electric energy storage, transmission and distribution.The two sides would also exchange views on issues such as trade and the investment environment, innovation and the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, said Kerry.Locke will also attend the economic track dialogue of the second round of Sino-U.S. strategic and economic dialogue in Beijing in late May.Twenty-four U.S. companies will join Locke for the China leg of the trade mission. The delegation will stop in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and Jakarta.

  

BEIJING, May 18 (Xinhua) -- China hopes that the deal Iran struck with Brazil and Turkey will help advance the process of resolving the Iran nuclear issue through dialogue and negotiations, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Tuesday.Yang made the comments in telepone conversations with his Turkish and Brazilian counterparts, Ahmet Davutoglu and Celso Amorim.Yang said that China has always sticked to the "dual-track" strategy in seeking a solution to the Iran nuclear issue and China appreciates the mediation efforts made by Turkey and Brazil.China attaches importance to and welcomes the agreement the two countries signed with Iran on supplying nuclear fuel for the research reactor in Tehran, he added.Davutoglu and Amorim briefed Yang on the efforts Turkey and Brazil have made concerning the Iran nuclear issue.They stressed that the deal the two countries reached with Iran is an important and positive step, which offers a new chance for the international community to peacefully solve the Iran nuclear issue through diplomatic means.Iran signed an accord with Turkey and Brazil in Tehran on Monday under which it will ship most of its low enriched uranium to Turkey in exchange for the 20-percent uranium fuel needed for its Tehran reactor.
