CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Stormy weather is threatening to delay SpaceX's first astronaut launch. A SpaceX rocket is scheduled to blast off Wednesday from Florida, carrying a Dragon capsule with NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken to the International Space Station. It will be the first time astronauts launch from the U.S. in nine years and a first for a private company. Forecasters put the odds of acceptable weather at 40%. But that doesn't include the need for favorable conditions all the way up the U.S. and Canadian coasts and across the sea to Ireland. The Dragon's emergency escape system can kick in, if necessary, all the way to orbit. 666

Barneys, an icon of America's luxury clothing world for decades, has filed for bankruptcy. The New York-based retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection early Tuesday morning. It said in a statement that it had also secured million from affiliates of Hilco Global and the Gordon Brothers Group to help meet its financial commitments."Like many in our industry, Barneys New York's financial position has been dramatically impacted by the challenging retail environment and rent structures that are excessively high relative to market demand," Barneys CEO Daniella Vitale said in a statement. The bankruptcy filing will allow the company "to conduct a sale process, review our current leases and optimize our operations," she added. The company said it will continue to operate five flagship locations in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston, as well as Barneys.com and BarneysWarehouse.com. However, it said it is shutting down stores in Chicago, Las Vegas and Seattle. The company is also shutting down five "concept stores" and seven of its nine Barneys Warehouse stores. The move was not unexpected. Reuters reported last month that filing for bankruptcy protection could help alleviate the pressure of expensive leases. The company traces its history to 1923, 1293
California authorities launched a manhunt early Wednesday for a man suspected of killing a police officer during a traffic stop.Officer Ronil Singh, 33, pulled over the suspect just before 1 a.m. in a mostly residential part of Newman, a city of 11,000 located about 70 miles east of San Jose."A few moments later he called out 'shots fired' over the radio," according to a news release from the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department, which is leading the investigation. "Multiple agencies responded to assist, and Singh was found at the scene with gunshot wounds."Singh was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The suspect -- who surveillance images show is a heavyset man with dark, closely cropped hair -- took off in a silver or gray extended-cab Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, police said. In photos provided by police, he is wearing a zip-up hoodie with an Ecko logo on the sleeve and a thick silver chain around his neck. The California Highway Patrol described him as Hispanic."Suspect is considered armed and dangerous and may be in possession of a firearm," the CHP said. The truck has a hood scoop and a paper license plate that says "AR Auto," 1191
Attorney General William Barr is expected to release special counsel Robert Mueller's redacted report on the Russia investigation to Congress and the public on Thursday morning, Justice Department spokeswoman Kerri Kupec said. The plan to release the redacted report on Thursday means that all of Washington will be on edge this week anticipating the nearly 400-page report from the special counsel. The redacted report will provide more details into what was uncovered during the 22-month special counsel investigation into possible collusion between Donald Trump's team and Russia and possible obstruction of justice.Last month, Barr released a four-page summary of Mueller's principal conclusions, which stated that Mueller's investigation did not establish a criminal conspiracy between Trump's team and the Russian government, and Mueller did not reach a conclusion on obstruction of justice, though Barr wrote the investigation did not exonerate Trump.Instead, Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein made the decision there wasn't sufficient evidence to prosecute an obstruction case.Trump and his allies have claimed "total exoneration" in the wake of Barr's letter, but Democrats have said they don't trust Barr to accurately describe Mueller's investigation and have demanded to see the full report and Mueller's underlying evidence.Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee have prepared to subpoena the Justice Department for the full report without redactions if they do not receive it this week.Barr told a Senate subcommittee last week that he's planning to color-code four types of redactions: grand jury information, classified information, material about ongoing information and material affecting peripheral third parties. But Barr's comments to the Senate panel that the Trump campaign was spied on have further eroded his standing with Democrats. Barr will testify before the Senate and House Judiciary Committees about the Mueller report on May 1 and 2. 1993
