Local governments and officials, particularly those of underdeveloped regions, should make poverty alleviation the top priority in the next five years' work, Xi demanded.

"The current crisis is far more complex than any of the previous crises, and it can not be fixed overnight," said Xi, noting that a multi-pronged approach is required to overcome the crisis.

The leaders urged further steps to promote East Asia integration, deepen cooperation in trade and economy, finance and investment, increase regional inter-connectivity, accelerate negotiations for the RCEP, encourage people-to-people exchanges, and actively address non-traditional security challenges, so as to promote peace and prosperity of East Asia.

"We should leverage our strengths in political mutual trust and economic complementarity, translate our friendship into a strong boost for practical cooperation, and promote more fruitful cooperation in such key areas as marine economy, production capacity, energy, infrastructure, human resources and finance," he said.

The delegation was invited by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade for a seven-day visit from Tuesday to Sunday. The council held a dialogue with about 200 Chinese businessmen in Beijing, covering electromechanical, energy, household appliances, communication, agriculture, food, finance, and light textile.
