A mother in Clarksville, Tennessee has been charged after the death of her 4-month-old daughter.Officials said they responded to a home in the 200 block of Orleans Drive after 11:30 a.m. Saturday on a call of an unresponsive child.Officers found the 4-month-old not breathing. They performed CPR, and the baby was taken to Tennova Hospital where she failed to regain consciousness and passed away.Detectives investigated the infant’s death leading to a criminal homicide charge against the baby’s mother, 25-year-old Sarah Danielle Scribner.A witness, identified in a police affidavit as Aeriel Shiraef, told authorities Scribner called her and said she'd done something bad. Scribner allegedly told Shiraef she had stopped the baby from crying by putting her hand over the infant's mouth. She added the infant was no longer breathing.Scribner was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.  916

A South Florida pediatrician is helping parents stay informed about the effects of the coronavirus on children."I always tell parents, listen to your sixth sense," said Dr. Marcos Mestre with Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami.Mestre said that most children infected with COVID-19 experience mild symptoms and do "incredibly well" and don't need to admitted to the hospital. But, he added that children with underlying health conditions like a compromised immune system, obesity, or asthma may be at greater risk of having complications."Their hospitalization, if they need to be hospitalized, might be a little bit longer," Mestre said.WATCH INTERVIEW WITH PEDIATRICIAN: 682

A Michigan lawmaker has been removed from her committee assignments after telling Trump supporters to "tread lightly" in a since-deleted video on Facebook. The comments by State Rep. Cynthia Johnson, a Democrat representing Detroit, came days after she made national headlines by sharing threatening voicemails calling for her to be lynched. The caller was upset with Johnson's actions in a hearing with Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who was seeking to overturn the results of the presidential election in the state. On Tuesday evening, Johnson posted a three-minute video to Facebook that concluded with language that Trump supporters took as a direct threat."So, this is just a warning to you Trumpers. Be careful. Walk lightly. We ain’t playing with you. Enough of the shenanigans. Enough is enough," Johnson said. "And for those of you who are soldiers, you know how to do it. Do it right. Be in order. Make them pay. I love y’all."Johnson later claimed that she was not using the term "soldiers" in a threatening way, but was only using it to refers to people in the Black community. "In the Black community, we call ourselves 'soldiers' against racism ... 'soldiers' for democracy. That's what 'soldiers' means in our community," she said. Her video also encouraged her supporters to oppose racism "right and in order."But the comments have caused significant backlash among Trump supporters. One Trump supporter, Roberta Adams, told Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit that she reported Johnson's comments to the Monroe County Sheriff's Department. On Wednesday, House Speaker Lee Chatfield Speaker-elect Jason Wentworth — both of whom are Republicans — said that Johnson had been removed from her committee assignments and that they were exploring further disciplinary action against her."Threats to either Republicans or Democrats are unacceptable and un-American," the two said, in part, in a joint statement. On Thursday, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, said she thought Chatfield and Wentworth went overboard in their punishment. "I think that removing her from her committees is too far, truly ... I have reached out and asked the incoming House leadership to reconsider that," Whitmer said.Whitmer added that Johnson has been through a lot in recent months. In addition to receiving racially-based threats over the weekend, she's lost family members to COVID-19."I believe that it is crucial that we show one another some grace right now, and some empathy and some compassion," Whitmer said. 2516

A Southwest Airlines flight with 117 people aboard slid off a runway on Thursday at California's Hollywood Burbank Airport during heavy rain, the Federal Aviation Administration said. There were no injuries reported, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.Flight 278, a Boeing 737-700 that originated in Oakland, California, came to a stop after running through an area of crushable material designed to bring an airplane to a halt, he said. The airport is open, and all airlines are operational, the airport tweeted. One runway has been closed. There were 112 passengers and five crew members on the flight, Southwest spokeswoman Brandy King said. Southwest tweeted the airline will refund the passengers ticket costs and will make an "additional gesture of goodwill."Around the time of the incident, visibility at the airport dropped to 1 mile. The area is experiencing heavy rain -- up to a half inch in an hour at one point, and a flood advisory is in effect for Los Angeles County, where the airport is located. The FAA implemented a ground stop that kept incoming flights in the air for an extra 45 minutes.Over six hours, the area received 1.66 inches of rain. Its monthly average is 2.4 inches.The-CNN-Wire 1209
