Twitter users can now limit who can reply to their tweets.According to a blog post by Twitter's Director of Product Management Suzanne Xie, the new settings were rolled out on Tuesday."Since your Tweet = your space, we've been testing new settings to give people more control over the conversations they start," Xie said in the post. "Sometimes, people are more comfortable talking about what's happening when they can choose who can reply. We've seen people use these settings to have conversations that weren't really possible before. Starting today, everyone will be able to use these settings, so unwanted replies don't get in the way of meaningful conversations."Users can reply with the following three options: everyone, only people the user follows, or only people you, the user, mention. Before, anyone could respond.Xie explained that tweets with limited settings would be labeled, and the reply icon will be grayed out for people who can't reply. Those who can't answer will still be able to view, retweet, retweet with a comment, share, and like the tweets."These settings help some people feel safer and could lead to more meaningful conversations, while still allowing people to see different points of view," Xie said.According to the social media giant, they've received positive feedback. (KGTV) – Detectives in Los Angeles are searching for more victims after they say a man exposed himself to a woman and juveniles at Universal Studios.Hershel Korngut, 34, was arrested after detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office say he exposed himself to a woman on the Universal CityWalk on January 1.Korngut was arrested on a misdemeanor charge, cited and released. Throughout their investigation, detectives found several other juvenile victims and, after searching Korngut’s home, found evidence of child pornography.Authorities say additional charges, including possession of child pornography, lewd and lascivious acts upon a child and sexual battery will be brought before a judge at Korngut’s upcoming court appearance.Detectives added that Korngut was employed at a hearing care facility and mentored at a youth organization in Los Angeles.Detectives are asking that any additional victims come forward by calling the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office at 818-622-9600 or providing an anonymous tip at 800-222-8477. 1072

Two dogs were rescued after they were left inside a hot car in Brooklyn Saturday afternoon.NYPD Emergency Service Unit responded to 64th Street in Brooklyn and quickly gained access to the dogs, NYPD Special Ops said on Twitter.Oxygen was administered as the dogs were getting cooled down by officers.Both dogs were taken to the animal hospital where one is in critical condition with a strong heartbeat, police said.The dogs’ owner was arrested.Saturday’s temperatures reached highs in the 80s and low 90s. (KGTV) - As the dual-threat of wildfires and climate change grows, one company says an old method of home building could be the answer to both problems.Rebecca Tasker is the CEO of Simple Construct. Her company builds homes out of straw bales.And, yes, she's heard all of the jokes."I've heard every single 'Three Little Pigs' joke you can think of," Tasker says. "Some good ones, some not so good ones."But the idea of straw bale homes is serious to Tasker."These homes, once they're plastered, are more fire-resistant than conventional homes," she says.The secret is in the construction. Tasker uses high-grade straw bales that are packed solid. She says that makes them like phone books, so they smolder instead of igniting in flames. Also, the plaster her company uses to cover the walls is made from dirt, clay, and more straw. The mixture gives the homes a 1-2 hour fire-resistance rating. Most homes only get a 30-minute rating."The oxygen can't get in to burn," Tasker says.In addition to the fire resistance, Tasker says the homes are environmentally friendly. The thick bales provide a two-foot layer of natural insulation. That blocks sound to 50 decibels. It also keeps the warmth in during the winter and the heat out during the summer."We're actually sequestering carbon in the walls," she says of the process. "We're helping to reverse climate change with these buildings. And as people start to put those two things together, we're getting a lot of business."Tasker says straw homes have been around for more than 100 years and came to California in 1996. Now, she estimates more than 60 are in use in San Diego County.She says the size of the bales can be a drawback, as it takes up valuable square footage on smaller lots. She also doesn't recommend building any higher than two stories.As for bugs or rodents, Tasker says they can't get into the walls because of how densely packed the bales are.Even the interior walls, which are typically made from traditional wood and studs, are packed with the straw/clay mixture.The construction price is comparable to conventional homes with similar insulation and efficiency ratings. Tasker thinks the idea will catch on as more people become more aware of the way these homes can help the planet.As for the little pigs jokes, she wrote a book called "The Story of the Fourth Little Pig."
