Alek Minassian, the man accused of plowing into pedestrians with a van in Toronto on Monday, posted a cryptic message to Facebook minutes before setting off in his rented vehicle, Sgt. Graham Gibson, a homicide detective with the Toronto police, said Tuesday.CNN law enforcement analyst Josh Campbell said earlier that investigators told him they believe a post on Minassian's Facebook page refers to the man who killed six and injured 14 in a drive-by shooting and vehicle ramming attack near the University of California Santa Barbara campus in 2014. Elliot Rodger later died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.Minassian, was charged Tuesday with 10 counts of first-degree murder in a Toronto court.The 25-year-old is also charged with 13 counts of attempted murder.Minassian, who was wearing a white jumpsuit with his hands cuffed behind him, appeared attentive during the brief hearing. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) - San Diego County Sheriff's deputies arrested a woman whose home caught fire in Alpine Monday morning. The flames started in a granny flat at the home at 3679 E. Victoria Drive, firefighters reported. At the time, winds were about 30 miles an hour with low humidity.Sheryl Ruiz, 36, was inside the granny flat and escaped without injury.Deputies said a search of the home led to the discovery of illegal drugs and a firearm, and arrested Ruiz.Lakeside and Viejas Fire crews are investigating the cause of the fire.  566

A woman who was shopping at Heinen's grocery store in Bay Village, Ohio on Friday walked out of the store to find that her car was missing.As it turns out, another woman accidentally took the car home, thinking it belonged to her.According to Bay Village police, the two white Lexus cars were parked next to each other in the parking lot. A 60-year-old woman walked out and took one of the cars, thinking it was hers. When the other woman came out to get in her car, she realized it was gone. Police said the woman had left the keys in her car when she parked.The 60-year-old woman realized she was in the wrong car when she got home and was unable to open her garage. The car was returned to its rightful owner. 745
