SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 20-year-old woman claims she was sexually assaulted for about 20 minutes during a Lyft ride in June.She's identified as Jane Roe in a civil lawsuit filed by Estey & Bomberger, LLP on Thursday. Roe tells 10News she has a disability and is unable to drive, she relies on Lyft to get to and from UCSD and around San Diego on a daily basis."I would use Lyft every day for about a year and a half," said Roe. "I would use it about 2-3 times a day."In June, Roe says she was using Lyft to travel from her father's home to her mother's, a 32-minute ride on the Interstate 5 that would forever change her life.RELATED: San Diego women reported in Uber, Lyft sex assault cases"He just asked me inappropriate questions," Roe said, referring to her driver. "He was commenting about inappropriate behaviors that he likes to do."Roe said the driver then told her to sit in the front passenger's seat, and out of fear she complied."The man.. he started touching me.. he groped my vagina, he groped my inner thighs, my thighs, my hamstrings," Roe said. She said the assault lasted between 15 and 20 minutes."I was kind of in a state of shock," Roe said. But Roe and her attorney, Mike Bomberger, say Lyft has been unresponsive."One of the things we don't know is what happened to the driver," Bomberger said.Roe and Bomberger allege that Lyft is not doing enough to keep passengers safe."Lyft fails to cooperate with police when there's an assault. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Voters will decide whether a controversial North County housing development goes forward, the Board of Supervisors decided Tuesday.After a public hearing, the board voted 4-0 -- Ron Roberts was absent -- to place the Newland Sierra project on the March 3, 2020, ballot. The board's action came two months after a Sept. 26 vote amending several provisions in the county general plan that allowed for Newland Communities to build in the Miriam Mountains area, directly west of Interstate 15 and near the cities of Escondido, San Marcos and Vista. The proposed development is in an area noted for wildlife and a tranquil ambience. The development would also feature 81,000 square feet of commercial space, a six-acre school site, 35.87 acres of public and private parks, 19.2 miles of multi- use community trails, an equestrian staging area and 1,209 acres of open space. The project would include numerous eco-friendly features, including solar panels, electric-vehicle charging stations, xeriscaping and gray-water systems, according to the developers. Opponents gathered roughly 117,000 signatures and presented their petition to the county. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A California Highway Patrol officer was taken to the hospital Thursday after a crash on SR-163 near Interstate 5 in Balboa Park.The officer was driving south on the highway approaching I-5 when he saw a pedestrian on the right shoulder.He slowed his patrol vehicle to make contact but was involved in a collision with another car.CHECK TRAFFICCHP officials said the veteran officer was disoriented and taken to Sharp Hospital as a precaution. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A driver was arrested after Border Patrol agents discovered nearly million in cash hidden in his SUV’s gas tank.On Aug. 5, at around 10:30 a.m., Border Patrol officials said agents spotted a suspicious Volkswagen Touareg on southbound Interstate 15 in Escondido and pulled the vehicle over.After a K-9 alerted agents to something in the SUV, agents questioned the 26-year-old driver. During a search of the vehicle, agents found 65 plastic-wrapped bundles of cash in the gas tank.According to officials, there was 7,460 in cash stuffed in the tank.The driver, a Mexican national, was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security “with pending criminal proceedings,” officials said.Agents seized the cash and SUV.In a news release, Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke said, “The U.S. Border Patrol works tirelessly to protect the Homeland from transnational criminal organizations - the same criminal enterprises that poison our communities with narcotics and smuggle human beings like cargo.
