SACO, Maine – A man in Maine has been arrested after authorities say he was caught putting razor blades into pizza dough that was then sold to customers. The Saco Police Department says it was notified of the tampered food by the city’s Hannaford Supermarket last Tuesday. Officers say a customer had purchased a Portland Pie pizza dough and later discovered razor blades inside.“The review of store security surveillance footage revealed a person tampered with the packaging of several Portland Pie pizza doughs,” wrote the department in a statement.Police have identified the suspect as 38-year-old Nicholas Mitchell and said he’s a former associate of It’ll Be Pizza company, which manufactures products for Portland Pie.A warrant was issued for Mitchell’s arrest and he was later taken into custody in Dover, New Hampshire, according to police. As a result of the incident, Hannaford Supermarkets has issued a recall for all Portland Pie branded products sold at its stores. The supermarket chain says customers who purchased Portland Pie pizza dough or cheese sold in its delis between Aug. 1 and Oct. 11 should not consume the products. They may return it to the store for a full refund.Additionally, the chain says it has removed all Portland Pie products from its shelves and paused replenishment of the products indefinitely, “after what is believed to be further malicious tampering incidents involving metal objects inserted into Portland Pie products.”Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the tampering. If you have purchased Portland Pie pizza dough and have found razor blades inside the dough, call the Saco Police Department's Detective Division at (207)282-8216. 1692

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Prosecutors have filed eight new charges against a Perris father accused of shackling and starving some of his 13 children, alleging that he lied on government forms about their schooling. The Riverside County district attorney's office said Friday that David Turpin was charged with eight felony counts of perjury related to paperwork he filed yearly with the California Department of Education certifying his children were receiving a fulltime education in a private day school.John Hall, a spokesman for the district attorney's office, said one charge was filed for each year the paperwork was completed from 2010 to 2017.Turpin and his wife Louise previously pleaded not guilty to torture, child abuse and other charges in a case that has drawn international attention since the couple's 17-year-old daughter escaped the family's Perris, California, home in January and called 911.Authorities said evidence of starvation was obvious, with the oldest sibling weighing only 82 pounds, and the children were shackled as punishment, denied food and toys and allowed to do little except write in journals.Turpin, who appeared in court briefly Friday wearing a sage green button down shirt and yellow tie, didn't enter a plea to the new charges during a brief hearing in Riverside. His attorney declined to comment after the hearing. The couple, who are each being held on million in bail, is due back in court May 18 and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 20.State records show Turpin listed the family's home address in Perris, California, as the site of a private day school. The children, who were removed from the home and initially hospitalized, ranged in age from 2 to 29. 1721

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California legislators are expected to pass a resolution condemning the state’s role in the U.S. government’s internment of 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II. President Franklin D. Roosevelt's executive order in 1942 led to incarcerations at 10 camps, two in California. The Democratic assemblyman who introduced the resolution said the state would be apologizing for a time when "California led the racist anti-Japanese American movement.” The measure has bipartisan support, a rarity in the Legislature. 551

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California Democratic Party Chairman Eric Bauman was accused of inappropriate behavior on a campaign bus days before the Nov. 6 election, a Democratic official said Tuesday, a day after Bauman took a leave of absence.Bauman was among those aboard a bus during a statewide get-out-the-vote tour. Two young women on the bus reported alcohol was consumed and inappropriate sex talk occurred on Nov. 1, said David Campos, chairman of the San Francisco Democratic Party. The bus was scheduled to arrive in San Francisco the next day at an event with U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Her campaign team learned of the incidents aboard the bus and told state party officials that Bauman and the bus should stay away, Campos said.It appeared Bauman engaged in the misbehavior and did not intervene to stop others from acting inappropriately, Campos said.RELATED: Top California Democrat on leave amid sex misconduct inquiry"We felt, and I felt, it was important for us, given we had serious credible allegations, not to have Chair Bauman attend this get-out-the-vote event in San Francisco," said Campos, who first shared details of the allegations with the Bay Area Reporter, a publication serving the LGBT community. Bauman is the party's first openly gay chairman.Allegations of misbehavior by Bauman first surfaced last week in a letter by party Vice Chairman Daraka Larimore-Hall. It appeared on social media and accused Bauman of sexual harassment and assault against unidentified accusers. On Saturday, Bauman acknowledged the party had started an investigation and on Monday he announced he was taking a leave of absence. He provided no details on the allegations. Campos said he doesn't know if Larimore-Hall's letter relates to the alleged incident on the bus or something else, but he said he was not aware of any allegations of sexual assault on the bus."We did not hear anything about possible sexual assault," he said.Larimore-Hall did not respond to multiple emails and a phone message from The Associated Press Tuesday. Jorge Aguilar, executive director of Pelosi's campaign, and Bauman did not immediately respond to emails seeking comment. In a statement Monday announcing Bauman's leave, party spokesman Mike Roth said "Bauman believes this decision is the best way to ensure the independence and integrity of the process. The Party is confident that the procedures in place will allow for all parties to come forward freely and provide for a thorough and complete review."Alex Gallardo-Rooker, another party vice chair, is serving as acting chairwoman during the investigation. 2627

Rumors are spreading on Facebook that there will be a nationwide blackout enacted by the Department of Defense from Nov. 4 to Nov. 6.In one Facebook video, a woman says an electromagnetic pulse drill will occur and urges her viewers to prepare for it. "There will be a very huge blackout," she says. The claim of a blackout has also coincided with a conspiracy theory alleging that this blackout drill coincides with planned Antifa protests across the country. However, the claims are false.Snopes says DOD will conduct a "communications interoperability" training exercise from Nov. 4-6, simulating a "very bad day" scenario. The exercise will simulate power and communication outages across the grid, but there will be no actual outages.DOD has done this exercise every quarter since 2013. A representative says the average citizen will "not even know" this exercise is taking place. 911
