SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Across the state of California, there were more than 10,000 sexual harassment offenses, as defined by California education code that resulted in suspension, expulsion or disciplinary diversion.A San Diego mother says her daughter was bullied and sexually harassed at school.“She said that he would take her pencils from her,” said Myiesha Jackson. “If she tried to get them back he would stick them down his pants."Jackson claims the male student didn’t stop there. She claims he took Play-Doh, made it into the shape of a penis and rubbed it on her daughter while making inappropriate sounds."I consider that sexual harassment,” said Jackson. An investigation report Jackson gave to Team 10 says the accused student admitted to rolling up the Play-Doh and holding it up while singing an inappropriate song that was sexual in nature, and the Play-Doh represented a male genitalia part, but the other student denied touching her with it.At the end of the report, it lists an action play, basically separating both students at all points of the day so they wouldn’t come into contact with each other.Jackson says that’s not what happened."The very day I brought her back she was in lunch, the line to get lunch, and they let him out of the office apparently, and he went and stood directly behind her,” she said.Magnolia Science Academy- San Diego denied 10News’ request for an interview.In an emailed statement an attorney for Magnolia Public Schools wrote:“State and federal student confidentiality laws and our organization's policy prohibit MSA-SD from commenting on specific students or incidents in which they may be involved. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An audit released by the San Diego Police Department Thursday showed they had purged 58 names from their registry of gang members. The names are collected in a database known as CalGang. 42 of the records were cleared because they had passed a 5-year purge mark. Four of the people had died and 12 had been removed due to unrevealed “discretionary” reasons. The results were released at a special joint meeting of the Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee and the Commission on Gang Prevention and Intervention. At the meeting, Dr. Rodney Hood, the chair of the gang commission also unveiled their annual report. It revealed, as of March 2017, there were 76 documented gangs in San Diego. Overall, it reports there are 3,815 gang members identified in 2017 compared to 4,052 last year. 849

Developers say in an effort to be transparent they are holding a community meeting on Wednesday.Two developers experienced in affordable housing are leading the project. They call the 50-unit proposal “Permanent Supporting Housing” meaning services will be available on-site.If the complex houses the chronically homeless, neighbors worry about tenants with substance abuse disorders or serious mental illness.The community meeting will take place Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the SDG&E Energy Innovation Center on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. 653

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A University City mother is looking for answers after her daughter was greeted with pornographic images on two consecutive days of remote learning.Chelsea Butler says it happened during her 14-year-old daugther's remote Physical Education class last Thursday morning. Her daughter is a freshman at University City High School."When she logged in, the screen was filled with pornography. It was being streamed during her Zoom call," said Butler.Butler says her stunned daughter quickly logged off and told her about it."Made her extremely uncomfortable. She was really upset by it," said Butler.Butler emailed the school and got a call back from the assistant principal, along with an email sent by the school. Both confirmed the Zoom bomb and an investigation by school police and the administration."The fact my daughter was exposed to it against her will is very upsetting," said Butler.The next day, her daughter tried to log in -- same time, same class -- only to be greeted by more pornographic images. This time, there were dozens of extra people in the room."They apparently got in by stealing students' screen names and changing them by one letter in order to access the classroom. Her screen name was one of the ones used. That's why she was even more upset," said Butler.The incidents is putting remote learning security under the microscope. Butler says right now, her daughter logs onto a password protected web portal to get her Zoom meeting ID.Her daughter enters a virtual waiting room, before the teacher invites her into the class. Butler isn't sure how, but says the precautions clearly must be enhanced.Across the country, numerous news reports have detailed similar Zoom bombs during remote learning involving pornography. Butler says her daughter won't be going back to that class until changes are made. So far, the school has excused the absences."A student just going to class every day should not have to be exposed to porn," said Butler.ABC 10News has reached out to San Diego Unified School District for a comment and are waiting to hear back. 2097

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- After questions from Team 10, organizers of KAABOO San Diego announced it was postponing this year's festival until 2021. Concertgoers told Team 10 they had difficulty reaching anyone for answers. “We all know this isn’t happening, there’s no festival taking place. Please just give us a refund,” said San Diego resident Vince Matthews.Matthews loves music and travels to festivals all across the country. He has been to KAABOO in Del Mar every year since it started in 2015. He spent more than 0 for early bird VIP tickets for this year’s KAABOO festival. “Last year was the first festival ever that I’ve done VIP and once I did it, I realized there was no going back to general admission!”With the pandemic and COVID cases rising, Matthews wanted to know what was going to happen with KAABOO. As more large events got canceled, he was convinced it was likely not going to take place. Still, he had yet to receive any concrete information from festival organizers.“I reached out to them usually every couple weeks by email,” Matthews said. “I get the same form email that says please be patient."Patience was running out. As of Monday early afternoon, the last update posted on KAABOO’s social media accounts was June 15th. It said, in part, that they “will need just a little more time to determine our position as it relates to this year’s installment of KAABOO.” It told fans they would be hearing from KAABOO shortly.Matthews is frustrated by the lack of communication as we now head into the month of August.“There's nobody touring, there is no festival, there is no lineup. It's not going to happen,” Matthews said.KAABOO is under new ownership. It was announced last year that Virgin Fest was taking over the brand. In addition to the new ownership, the festival was moving from the Del Mar Fairgrounds to Petco Park.As of Monday morning, it still listed the September festival dates on its website.Team 10 contacted Virgin Fest founder Jason Felts. On Twitter, he told investigator Melissa Mecija that emails went to “ticket buyers last week about a possible scaled down social distanced version for 2020.”However, he determined with cases increasing that it wasn’t “a safe decision in the end and not the multi-sensory experience that KAABOO guests experience or deserve.”Team 10 spoke to four people who bought tickets. Nobody received the email that the festival claimed to send to ticketholders.KAABOO organizers released this statement to ABC 10News: With everything in the world moving so far and fast in just the last couple of weeks, we needed a little bit of extra time to be sure we were making the right go-forward decision for our beloved festival. Unfortunately, it is not the best news... We are postponing the 2020 installment of KAABOO San Diego.After much consultation with stakeholders in local government, artists and music industry friends, and members of the San Diego community, we know it is safest and best for everyone to look ahead and plan a bigger and bolder edition of KAABOO for September of 2021.All current pass holders will receive an email in the next few days outlining a special offering for those who choose to hold their passes for KAABOO 2021.
