(KGTV) — U.S. citizens traveling to Europe will have to be mindful of new visa rules after 2021.Starting on Jan. 21, 2021, Americans will need a ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) visa when traveling to a European Schengen-zone country, which includes Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, and Italy. Though, travelers heading to Ireland or the United Kingdom will not need the new visa.The visa will cost a one-time fee of about �7, or about to , according to a release from the European Union. The move is meant to improve security, "to avoid any further problems with illegal migration and terrorism," the ETIAS visa website says.Currently, U.S. citizens traveling to Europe for 90 days or less do not need a visa. Eventually, the new visa will be required for short-stay travel as well.To apply for a visa, Americans will need a valid passport, an email account, and a credit or debit card. Passports must be valid for three months beyond the period of an individual's intended stay.Americans will be required to have a ETIAS visa valid for three years when entering European Schengen-zone countries. (KGTV) --There is another effort to tackle our housing problems in California in the form of Proposition 21.Prop. 21, also known as the Rental Affordability Act, would allow local governments to have more authority over rent control on residential properties over 15 years old.It would exempt individuals who own two homes or less from new rent-control policies.Kimberly Ellis has been renting her current Santee apartment for three years. With rent—plus bills and food—she said everything “is just so expensive.”With her husband facing medical issues and her rent increasing every year, she said rent control is needed. “I live on a budget. It’s hard when the rent goes up,” Ellis said.A television ad for Yes on 21 is sponsored by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. The organization has committed major funding to the cause.Pt. Loma Nazarene University’s Chief Economist Lynn Reaser said the advertisement “doesn’t even tell us what Proposition 21 even does.”She clarified it for voters.“It allows local governments to set their own rent control measures that would be different from what the state now has, which basically caps rent increases at 5 percent plus rate of inflation,” Reaser said. She said the ad got two facts right—homelessness is increasing and unemployment is high.According to the California Employment Development Department, unemployment is more than 13 percent. A 10th child has died following an outbreak of adenovirus at a New Jersey rehabilitation facility, state health officials said.At least 27 children have been linked to the outbreak at the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Haskell, the New Jersey Department of Health said."To date, the individuals associated with the outbreak became ill between Sept. 26 and Oct. 29," it said. "The affected children had severely compromised immune systems — including respiratory problems — before the outbreak began."The viruses are found on unclean surfaces and medical instruments.
