China plans to issue management guidelines to crack down on commercial bribery and tighten rules on product quality and environmental protection for its centrally controlled, State-owned enterprises operating in overseas markets, the country's top SOE regulator said on Tuesday.

China plans to nurture at least 5,500 talents in artificial intelligence from top universities to gain a lead in the apex technology as the country aspires to be a top contender in the sector.

China last month purchased 100 million metric tons of iron ore, up by 9.3 percent year-on-year, 40.64 million metric tons of crude oil, an increase of 19.6 percent, and 1.19 million metric tons of steel, up by 8.9 percent, from overseas markets.

China will also encourage multinational corporations to set up regional headquarters in China, and encourage foreign firms to invest more in central, western and northeastern China, the premier said.

China is working on next-generation bullet trains with a maximum speed of 400 km per hour. They will be ready by 2020 for markets linked to the Belt and Road Initiative. A train recently left Beijing for Xuzhou in East China's Jiangsu province with a top speed of 350 km per hour.
