JAPATUL VALLEY (CNS) - Firefighters battled for a fourth day Tuesday to subdue a Santa Ana-driven wildfire that blackened thousands of acres in rural eastern San Diego County over the Labor Day weekend, leveling about a dozen homes and forcing widespread evacuations.The blaze erupted for unknown reasons early Saturday afternoon off Spirit Trail in Japatul Valley, near Alpine, according to Cal Fire.The flames had spread over an estimated 17,565 acres and destroyed at least 11 residences and 25 outbuildings Tuesday, the state agency reported. LA JOLLA (CNS) - A man was seriously injured Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle, which hit a median and rolled over a couple of times, police said.The man, 59, was driving a 2001 Toyota Tundra westbound in the 2500 block of La Jolla Parkway at about 6 a.m. when he experienced a possible medical condition, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, said Officer Tony Martinez of the San Diego Police Department."The vehicle veered to the left and struck the raised concrete median," he said.
