ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Almost two months after reopening, Universal Orlando is laying off an undisclosed number of workers. Universal spokesman Tom Schroder said in an email Monday that the Florida theme park resort was reducing its workforce "to reflect current priorities and needs." Universal has put the construction of a new theme park, Epic Universe, on pause because of the pandemic. Universal Orlando closed its doors in March as the novel coronavirus started spreading in the U.S. It was the first of Orlando's major theme park operators to reopen when it welcomed back visitors in early June. On a recent getaway to Phoenix to relax, eat more than I should and enjoy a little baseball, I had the good fortune to check into The Scott Resort & Spa. Officials are looking for the suspect responsible for a deadly stabbing in Phoenix.Phoenix police responded to an alley near 15th and Missouri avenues at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday for a report of a stabbing. Officers were alerted to the incident after a passerby called 911 about a man stumbling in the roadway. When officers arrived on the scene they found 58-year-old Alfred Brown with multiple stab wounds. He told officers the suspect, a younger Hispanic male, was heavy set and wearing a white shirt. According to police, Brown was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.Brown was a known homeless man who stayed in the area. He was last seen in the area earlier in the day with a Hispanic male who matches the suspect description.   789

OKEECHOBEE, Florida — The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office has a message for parents to share with their kids about bus stop safety.They say they have received calls about children that are waiting for their school bus in the dark and lying down near and in the road.This is obviously very dangerous for not only the child, putting them at risk of being hit by a car, but also puts the drivers at risk of wrecking trying to avoid hitting them.The Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office has other tips for parents and students that can apply to students everywhere: 580

On Monday, the White House would not rule out suspending habeas corpus ahead of the approach of a migrant caravan to the US border.Suspending habeas corpus is seen as a move that could allow thousands of migrants participating in the caravan from Central America to the US border to be detained indefinitely without a hearing. While the suspension of habeas corpus is rare, it is not unprecedented.  422
