SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - There are jobs for college students. And then there's Woodstock's Pizza. Woodstock's is not an ordinary college job. "We look at all of our extended employees as part of the Woodstock's family," says Jeff Ambrose, CEO of Woodstock's Pizza. If Woodstock's is a family, then Jeff Ambrose is the Godfather. Ambrose began his career with Woodstock's right out of college back in the early 1980s. He's grown up with the restaurant since his college days at Oregon State doing everything from delivery to management. It was then Jeff learned about treating employees like family from original owner Chuck Woodstock decades ago in Corvallis, Oregon. "Chuck had this vision of having a Woodstock's Pizza in every college town west of the Mississippi," adds Ambrose. Not only that, Jeff was given the opportunity to own 25% of the restaurant. That opportunity for employees to own part of the franchise continues to this day with Jeff. "Because I think it's the right thing to do," Ambrose answers when asked why. In the mid-1980s Chuck Woodstock died in a plane crash. It was Jeff who took over the chain in California including two restaurants here in San Diego. And to this day, his managers have opportunities to buy stock in Woodstock's."That was a big part for me of saying we want to give back," says Ambrose. Employees are paid above minimum wage; those who work more than 30 hours a week are offered medical and dental benefits. Woodstock's was doing this long before the Affordable Care Act became law. "My thought is that we want to keep and retain the best people we can keep and retain," says Ambrose confidently. Yesenia Rios is a great example. "I personally need a job that can be flexible with me," says Rios. Yesenia is an engineering student at San Diego State. She started at Woodstock's a couple of years ago making pizzas. Now she's in administration working in the company's I.T. Department. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Police Department is looking for four instruments that were stolen from the San Diego Junior Theatre over the weekend.Junior Theater Executive Director James Saban said two guitars and two bass guitars were taken sometime Friday night or Saturday morning.They are described as a white Fender Stratocaster with a checkered strap, a red Epiphone archtop guitar, a seafoam and white Fender bass guitar and a cream Fender Mustang bass guitar.“It was my prized possession, my baby,” said Oliver Davis of his Fender Stratocaster. “So finding out it was stolen was a bummer.”Davis plays the guitar on stage as part of his character. After discovering it was missing Saturday morning, he said he and the other musicians had to rush to find replacements so they could perform their matinee.“Everyone was getting loaned instruments,” he said.The theater has filed a police report but the instruments have not yet been found.Anyone with information can call the San Diego Police Department at 619-531-2000. 1036

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The race for California's 50th Congressional District is zeroing in on two candidates following Super Tuesday.Former City Councilmember Carl DeMaio conceded Tuesday, leaving the path clear for the March Primary's top two vote-getters Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar and Former Republican Rep. Darrell Issa."While I am disappointed, I am filled with two other emotions: gratitude for supporters like you and pride in the incredible campaign we ran," DeMaio's statement read. "In the coming days I will share more details of how we will deploy our political operation as we pivot to the November election and hope you will be willing to continue to be involved in the fight."Campa-Najjar topped the nine-candidate field with 36 percent of the vote, followed by Issa with 23 percent, DeMaio with 20 percent, and Sen. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego State Men's Basketball Team sought to keep their undefeated season as they faced off against Boise State Saturday.SDSU won 83-65 and is 17-0 mid-way through the season.Saturday's game was sold out, the third time it's been standing room only this season.The student section roared during the game, chanting and cheering on the team. They were certain the men would remain undefeated.The team is ranked 7 in the country, and the top in their conference.They played Boise State at Viejas Arena. Boise St. was 11-7 this season. 565
