They have two kids, a toddler son, and 6-month old baby girl."We moved to Alpine for the community and to send our children to the schools out here; it's all we've ever wanted," Katie said.December 14th, they say a neighbor approached someone walking around a vacant property next door and found out she was an investigator for the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement Task Force (SAFE). "They're writing what they call a factual site assessment which they submit to the courts and they're looking to place a sexually violent predator right down the street," David said they were shocked. Katie was ready to get going, "my initial thought was we have to move."The neighborhood jumped into action, writing stacks of concerned letters to their representatives and investigators with the SAFE Task Force.Supervisor Dianne Jacob responded to their emails, saying in part, "At this time, the County has not been made aware of any recommendation to place a SVP at this location. After 40 years of making wishes come true, Make-A-Wish America is celebrating something else.The organization chose to celebrate through the eyes of one California teen who had one special and unique wish.Just like a summer camp, Kamp Karina has an activity list that's packed full of fun with dancing, magic, science, and even storytime. All of it was Karina's idea and wish.“The guy who does Olaf’s voice! He appeared there and I was like what the heck! That I had no idea of it surprised me and it made me really happy. It was a shocking moment and it made me really happy,” Karina said.The 16-year-old Central California teen was surprised because, when granted an experience from Make-A-Wish, she really one had one thing in mind.“I actually didn’t know what I wanted to wish for. A student at Monroe Middle School in Michigan is facing possible charges after bringing an inactive grenade to school and threatening to "blow up the school."Police were called to the school after the student showed the device to other students and made the threatening statements. Later interviews determined that he has shown it to others multiple times during the day.A school resources officer searched the student's locker and located the grenade. He noticed that it had been modified to make it incapable of detonating.Further inspection confirmed the device was not capable of exploding and did not pose a threat to anyone.The student was removed from class and taken into custody. He has been placed in the Monroe County Youth center for possession of a device that is represented as an explosive or bomb.Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Monroe Police Department. 919
