KOKOMO — A central Indiana woman has a word of warning for other women after finding something strange on a feminine product she just recently purchased."It's really gross," Kimberly Fisher said after opening the package of her Tampax Pearl tampon and noticing the string was discolored."I thought that was odd so I go to look at the tip of it and I noticed that it was also a weird and dingy color and so I pushed it out of the applicator and it had nothing but black mold all over it," Fisher said.Fisher said she bought the new box of tampons in Kokomo, Indiana, last week — two days before making the discovery. Fisher said she immediately became concerned wondering if other tampons she already used looked the same way."The fear of what could happen, the fear of did my last one have that and I did not know," she said.Fisher said she hopes by sharing her story it will serve as a warning for other women and girls to check their tampons before using them."We need to spread awareness because this is something you never thought about," Fisher said. To avoid going broke or disappointing your kids, parenting experts say it’s important to manage children’s expectations before the holidays roll around. “If you have an entire list of big-ticket items, it might be clues that it’s time to have a conversation about budgeting and about the value of money right and maybe start implementing some chores,” said certified parenting coach Carrington Cunnington. Cunnington says gift lists are a great tool especially for distant relatives, but children can be encouraged to think about more than just what they want.“I suggest my kids think about how could this exchange bring you and the person who you're exchanging with, how could it bring you closer together,” said Cunnington. Cunnington says it's also good to encourage your child to be a gift giver from an early age. She found a similar video on YouTube Kids. Hess pushed for YouTube to remove it, and they did. “I think it's definitely difficult, maybe more now than it ever has been before,” Hess says. Mother of two, Caroline Craddock, says she's vigilant about what her kids watch even though they’re just 2 and 4 years old. “They're sometimes watching YouTube or Amazon Prime, stuff like that. And I always try to be in the room with them, so I can at least be listening to what they're watching to make sure that it's appropriate content for their ages,” Craddock says. Experts say messages from a platform like YouTube or YouTube Kids can be powerful for children. That's why Dr. Andrea Maikovich-Fond, a clinical psychologist at Kaiser Permanente, says opening up a safe and healthy dialogue with kids is the most important thing parents can do. “Letting your children know you are someone safe to come and talk to if it's something they've seen if it's an idea they have, if it's something they're concerned about in terms of their own thoughts or feelings,” Dr. Maikovich-Fond says. The early minutes of the debate featured attacks from other candidates on his handling of “Stop and Frisk” as well as sexual harassment claims. Warren in particular took Bloomberg to task for not allowing employees bound by non-disclosure agreements to speak out. Last Friday, Bloomberg announced he would allow several women to exit from their NDAs if requested. It is hard to gauge how much last week’s debate will impact his numbers, and the fact he’ll have another debate before Super Tuesday gives him an opportunity to negate some of the damage. Eyes on SandersWith Sanders now clearly the frontrunner, Democrats may shift their focus and attacks on Sanders. They could have some fodder, too. On Sunday, Sanders said on CBS’ “60 Minutes” that "it's unfair to simply say everything is bad" about former Cuban President Fidel Castro’s reign over Cuba.Those comments drew some criticism from one of Biden’s advisers.There is also the issue of electability, one that has become more of a focus as Sanders climbs the poll while maintaining a liberal stance on the issues. The candidates could also be looking to slow down Sanders enough to make it challenging for him to reach 1,990 delegates before July's Democratic National Convention. A failure to earn 1,990 delegates before the convention forces a second round of voting, and allows hundreds of Democratic Party leaders a chance to be involved in the nomination. 4957
