(CNS) - Authorities publicly identified a 30-year-old Whittier man who was fatally shot by officers after allegedly leading law enforcement on a chase from Orange to San Diego County.The shooting, which happened around 1 a.m. Sunday on southbound Interstate 805 north of Orange Avenue in Chula Vista, involved officers from both the California Highway Patrol and San Diego Police Department, Sheriff's Lt. Thomas Seiver said.Christopher Ulmer of Whittier in Los Angeles County suffered "multiple" gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital, where he later died, Seiver said.The sheriff's homicide unit is investigating the shooting "due to the multiple jurisdictions involved" in the incident, the lieutenant said.The chase began just before midnight Sunday when Santa Ana police attempted a stop because of a traffic violation, according to CHP spokesman Salvador Castro.The driver headed south on Interstate 5, then got on southbound I-805 and eventually stopped his silver sedan on the freeway near Orange Avenue.A news video Sunday appeared to depict at least 10 gunshots during the standoff. CHP and San Diego police vehicles could be seen stopped behind the car with some officers drawing their guns. After the shooting, the news video shows a police dog bite down on Ulmer or his clothing before officers turn him over and start first aid.Authorities have not disclosed if Ulmer was armed during the confrontation. (KGTV) - Parents in Chula Vista are horrified after finding out that dozens of children are taking part in what is being called an after-school fight club. Alain Tripp has lived across the street from Bonita Vista Middle School for more than a decade. Once the bell rings, he sees students walk along the canyon trail to go home. But lately, he has been noticing something else. “Every so often I see a group of 15-20 kids. They’ll be standing there and fighting,” Tripp said.Tripp is not the only one who has seen fighting just off campus.Other neighbors said they had witnessed dozens of kids running down the trail on minimum-day Fridays, to participate in organized fights at Discovery Park. One Bonita Vista Middle School student’s mother sent 10News a photo of what appears to be many students scattering after one of the so-called fights. Parents said the students then upload fight videos onto a secret Instagram account, seeking internet fame.“They just see a lot of people who are Youtube famous… A famous Youtuber popping up in their heads and stuff,” Tripp said. “I feel like every year, kids are trying to grow up faster.”Some neighbors told 10News that they have tried to stop the alleged fights, but they say these keep happening. Now, the school is stepping in. 10 News got a copy of the letter sent to parents from Bonita Vista Middle School Principal, Teresa Kramer. 1457

(KGTV) -- Police are looking for three people who tried to steal an ATM from outside a Mexican restaurant in Chula Vista Tuesday morning.According to the Chula Vista police, at around 5 a.m., three men were seen ripping the machine from the ground outside the restaurant in the 2500 block of Main Street, near Broadway.The trio tried to load the ATM onto the back of a large flatbed truck, but it fell off. They struggled to get the machine back on the truck and eventually gave up.Witnesses told police they saw the three men run away down Main Street.Police say the ATM was heavily damaged, but it doesn’t seem like they got away any money. The truck was believed to be stolen.Police are hoping nearby surveillance video will help in the investigation. 782

As I was pulling out, felt my car lurch to the side," said Jimmy, who asked us not to use his last name.The lurch came amid the most awful of noises."Pretty much like a crash ... felt the scraping of my rotor on the asphalt ... and then pretty much my car slammed into the asphalt itself. Traumatized and scared of what happened," said Jimmy.His heart sank as he got out and stared at the driver's side wheels, which had fallen off."My lug nuts were completely missing, all ten of them on the left side," said Jimmy.His repair estimate: a staggering ,500. He's insured with a 0 deductible. "Every little cost affects you. It matters," said Jimmy.Jimmy's vehicle was not the only target. Two blocks away the same morning, another driver shared a similar fate because of stolen lug nuts.
