SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Every December, for just two nights, Balboa Park twinkles with thousands of lights and just as many visitors to celebrate the holidays.December Nights will cover the park in holiday cheer on Dec. 6, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Dec. 7, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. The park will be filled with light displays, bands and performances, attractions, shopping, and delicious foods from the park's International Cottages to Spanish Village.The massive celebration is ranked the fifth best holiday festival in the U.S. by USA Today readers and is the largest free event in San Diego, attracting about 360,000 visitors.RELATED: San Diego holiday tree lightings to catch this seasonAnother big draw to the celebration: participating museums offer free admission from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Until the fun kicks off, the public can vote for the annual San Diego tradition in USA Today's 10Best contest for "best public holiday lights display." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Family, friends and fellow Airmen gathered to pay a final salute to a San Diego Air Force pilot killed in a training accident last month. Second Lieutenant Travis Wilkie was buried with full military honors today at Miramar National Cemetery. It was a somber scene as a horse-drawn carriage arrived with the casket carrying the 23-year-old graduate of the Air Force Academy in Colorado. Wilkie's parents, sister, and new wife, Peyton looked on as members of the Base Honor Guard escorted the flag-draped coffin. Two T-38 Talon jets were landing in formation when something went wrong. Wilkie excelled in everything he did. He was a standout baseball player and honors student at La Jolla Country Day School. He continued playing ball and setting records at the Air Force Academy. He graduated from the academy in 2018 and was just weeks away from getting his wings, according to a statement by the family. Wilkie and his girlfriend had just married in October. Peyton is also in the Air Force. Military officials say it could be a couple of months before they know what caused the crash. 1308

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Employees at a Little Caesars franchise location in Logan Heights say their paychecks are bouncing and management is not responding to their concerns. The workers say the problems started in March, and they told 10News they've received paychecks, only to have them bounce a few days later and racking up banking fees every time. The employees 10News spoke to, from the National Avenue location, did not want to be identified. When they spoke out to supervisors, the employees claimed they were told to not to bother upper management. Other times, they said, they were left in the dark with no response. Employees identified the owner as Tony Bith, saying he owns at least a dozen Little Caesars locations throughout San Diego County. The one in Barrio Logan on Main Street is also closed; the National City Location on Plaza Boulevard is still open. 10News tried to reach Bith by phone but did not hear back as of the publication of this story. 10News also attempted to make contact with him at his home address, but could not access him because he lives in a gated community. 10News reached out to Little Caesars corporate to find out if they were aware of what was going on and they sent the following statement: 1243

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Dozens of families and children with down syndrome were out at Crown Point Park in Pacific Beach for the first-ever Donut Run in San Diego. The money raised benefits Gigi's Playhouse which is a down syndrome achievement center. The center provides therapeutic and training programs for people of all ages. The services are completely free. Gigi's Playhouse has 37 locations across the country and even a few in Mexico. All of the staff are volunteers so donations are always welcome in order to continue providing the services. The goal was to raise ,000 but the organization doubled that goal.   667
