Furniture tip-overs are a hidden hazard in everyone’s home. In fact, in 2016, Ikea recalled millions of dressers and other pieces of furniture for fear that the items could tip over and crush young children. However, experts say there's an easy fix to the problem that takes less than 10 minutes.According to Patrick McNulty of "Child Safe Childproofing," you'll need a hand drill, a drill bit, a stud finder and a pencil. You'll also need a child-safe strap, like the ones made of metal and seatbelt material that can be found on Amazon.McNulty recommends using two straps for dressers at least 2 feet tall.First, using the stud finder, find the studs at either end of the wall behind the dresser. Mark those spots with the pencil.Next, attach one side of the strap to the dresser. Then, slide the dresser close to the wall and attach the other end of the strap to the wall.McNulty says every 17 minutes a child gets hurt by tipping furniture. More than 46 percent of all tip-overs happen in the bedroom. With simple tools and 10 minutes of work, McNulty says you could save a life. “Any ER visit you end up paying for, it's going to be far cheaper to just strap all the furniture,” he said. 1233
Georgia Sec. of State Brad Raffensperger said Wednesday that the state would conduct a hand recount in the 2020 presidential election.Raffensperger said a hand recount would help reassure voters of the integrity of the election. According to The Associated Press, Raffensperger says he wants the process to begin this week and expects the recount to be finished by Nov. 20.Under Georgia law, candidates are entitled to request a recount if the outcome percentage is within 0.5%. Biden currently holds a 0.28% lead in the state. Raffensperger says once the hand recount is finished, the losing candidate can then request a second machine hand recount. The presidential race between Donald Trump and Joe Biden in the state remains too close to call, though Biden holds a lead of more than 14,000 votes in the state with 99% of the vote count.Recounts typically only affect the outcome of about a few hundred votes. In a 2016 recount of the presidential election in Wisconsin — which went to Trump by a margin of about 20,000 votes — the outcome only shifted about 500 votes. A recount in Florida in 2000 did have an impact on the election, as it was the tipping-point state in the election and was decided by about 500 votes.Officials in Georgia have not reported any systematic issues with the vote that would indicate widespread issues in tallying.Even if the vote count were to flip in Georgia, Biden is projected to still have more than the required 270 electoral votes to claim the presidency. The Associated Press projects that Biden has picked up 290 electoral votes with Georgia still too close to call. 1616

Head injuries have plagued the NFL for years. But the helmets that players wear have retained roughly the same design since the 1970s.This season, about 70 NFL players are wearing a new helmet that's a radical departure from previous iterations -- and, the league believes, safer. It won't be easy to spot when you're watching games on Sunday. The Vicis Zero1 looks a lot like other helmets. But it's designed to soften the blows to the heads of NFL players. 465

John Kasich would be 'a great alternative' to Trump-- Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is touting Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich as a "great alternative" to President Donald Trump. The actor and former head of California told CNN's Michael Smerconish he thinks Gov. Kasich should run against President Trump, should Trump fail to make good on his promises to voters. "People are going to judge the President before they go to the polls by his performance," Schwarzenegger, who is a Republican, said in an interview. "If Trump does a great job, then there's no reason to replace him. But what I'm saying is that John Kasich is a great alternative should he (Trump) not perform, because we don't know yet. We are only one year into his term."Schwarzenegger added he thinks the Ohio governor would be better than any candidate the Democratic party could offer. Kasich unsuccessfully fought for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.Read more. 1118
