(CNN) - A San Jose home was a scene of carnage after an apparent quadruple homicide and suicide, police said.Officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired at the home around 8:40 p.m. Sunday night."Arriving officers located several family members fleeing the residence," San Jose police said.Police used an armored vehicle to help rescue two gunshot victims from the home. But both of those victims, a male and a female, died shortly later."Two other adult female victims and the suspect were still unaccounted for and believed to be in the residence," police said.At around 1:25 a.m. Monday, officers entered the home and found the two missing female victims and the suspect. All three had been shot, and all three were pronounced dead at the scene.The names of the victims and suspect have not been released, pending notification of relatives. Authorities have not detailed the relationships between the five people."It appears the suspect shot the four victims before committing suicide by shooting himself," police said.  SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- Twelve members of San Diego's California Conservation Corps returned home today, after a one-month deployment. On October 10th, 2018, Category 4 Hurricane Michael approached the Florida Panhandle. 155 mile-per-hour winds wiped out Mexico Beach City, Florida. For the last month, Corps members were assisting residents recover from the disaster."We did a lot of damage assessment analysis, temporary roofing, we did debris removal, tree removal," Corpsman Antonio Sanchez said. The CCC is a state agency that offers young adults environment-related jobs. Most of the work is in California, but they can be deployed elsewhere. This was crew leader Rebecca Voorhees' first time out of state."It was very eye-opening because we've seen fires. But not things like this," Voorhees said. "It makes you a little more humble because it's not just you here we're helping. We can help all over the world."But their hearts are always at home, especially on Thanksgiving. "I'm really glad to be home. 30 days is a really long time away from family, and so I'm going to go home and spend some time with them," Sanchez said. Their Thanksgiving vacation lasts only a few days. When they go back into the office on Monday, they will be put back on the "available for deployment" list. Their next stop could be to Northern California's fire-affected areas, where they go back to doing what they do best."We help people," Voorhees said. (CNN) -- At least four people were shot dead and two others were wounded Thursday in Los Angeles before the gunman was captured, authorities said.Gerry Dean Zaragoza, 26, killed his father and brother at their home, fatally wounded a woman he knew at a gas station and shot a man on a bus who died, police said.There is no obvious motive for any of the killings, said Capt. William Hayes of the Robbery-Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department."We're evaluating it, we're interviewing witnesses but we can't come up with a specific answer," he told reporters.Hayes said the shootings began at about 1:20 a.m. in Canoga Park when Zaragoza shot his parents and brother. Zaragoza's father and brother were killed and his mother injured, Officer Greg Kraft said.About an hour later, Zaragoza went to a gas station in North Hollywood, where he shot a woman and a man who were working there, Hayes said.Hayes said Zaragoza knew the woman previously. She died at a hospital. Hayes said the man survived; police had said earlier that the victim was in critical condition.Police also think Zaragoza is responsible for an attempted robbery near an ATM at a bank and for a fatal shooting on a bus at a stop in Van Nuys."He didn't do anything.  Delta's decision to cut ties with the NRA could cost it a generous tax break from the state of Georgia.The state's Republicans — including a major candidate for governor— are threatening to kill part of a bill that would eliminate a state tax on jet fuel. If it passes, the provision is expected to save the Atlanta-based airline tens of millions of dollars."We felt that it was wrong for them to single out one company," said Chuck Hufstetler, chairman of the state's Senate Finance Committee. Delta on Saturday announced that it would end discounted rates for National Rifle Association members.Hufstetler told CNN on Monday that if the airline does not reverse its stance on the NRA soon, he and others will push for the tax break to be stripped from the bill. The bill still needs to pass the Senate before it can be signed into law.If Delta holds its ground, he added, "I don't think [the bill] will pass as it is."The bill was until recently on track to earn approval from lawmakers.Georgia's House of Representatives voted in favor of the legislation last week. (CNN) -- Don't worry too much about the two national turkeys chosen for presidential pardons this year.Not only is their salvation secured, but so's their retirement home.For the fourth straight year, the special pair will flock from the White House to enjoy their golden years at -- wait for it -- Gobblers Rest at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg."Virginia Tech has a long tradition of supporting the turkey industry through research and outreach, so it's fitting that the Presidential Turkeys becoming part of the Hokie Nation is a new tradition," said Rami Dalloul, a professor in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, in a statement. Dalloul is a poultry immunologist who sequenced the turkey genome.The National Thanksgiving Turkey and its alternate will join Peas and Carrots, last year's pardoned birds. Earlier lucky cluckers Wishbone and Drumstick, plus Tater and Tot, died at Gobblers Rest of natural causes.The school says the two birds are chosen based on appearance and temperament, then sent to a hotel near the White House for media events.
