NANNING, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli said on Friday China will step up production capacity cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
"China's sovereignty over the Nansha Islands and their adjacent waters is irrefutable," he said. "The Chinese navy will resolutely perform duties and missions to unswervingly safeguard national sovereignty, maritime rights and interests, and peace and stability in the South China Sea."
Calling Singapore "an important partner and a special friend of China," Zhang said China is willing to develop and map out bilateral ties always from a strategic height and long-term perspective.
China's foreign ministry has said the visit will enhance economic and trade cooperation, with the signing of inter-government agreements and cooperation projects between companies.
He also met with participants in the eighth China-U.S. Internet forum, and called for a peaceful, secure, open and cooperative cyber space and closer bilateral cooperation in the sphere.
