(KGTV) – Chula Vista’s first commercial cannabis business is now ready to serve customers.According to a news release from the city, Grasshopper Delivery is the first of 12 cannabis businesses approved to operate in Chula Vista.Mayor Mary Casillas Salas said, “We welcome Grasshopper Delivery to the City of Chula Vista. Since voters approved commercial cannabis operations in 2018, we have been working to establish a quality program that attracts businesses like Grasshopper that are committed to running top-notch operations in our community.”Measure Q, an initiative approved by voters in 2018, allows for “commercial cannabis retail, delivery, testing, cultivation and manufacturing” in Chula Vista.Under Measure Q, the city said: “A total of 12 cannabis retail operations are allowed in the City of Chula Vista. Each council district may have a maximum of three retail locations to include two storefront locations or a combination of storefront and delivery operations, not to exceed three per council district.Grasshopper Delivery is Chula Vista owned and operated. (KGTV) - A woman was found unconscious and bloody outside a Chula Vista laundromat Friday night.Paramedics responded to reports of an unconscious woman at the Coin-Op laundromat near Broadway and F Street just after 9 p.m.The woman had apparently been beaten and left on the sidewalk on the side of the strip mall.Ivonne Campos, who works at a nearby Mexican restaurant said her bosses saw the woman as they were leaving for the night.Campos came over to help the woman, who she believes is homeless. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Several Chula Vista elementary schools are working to give students hands-on engineering experience the district says they can take into the job market. On August 1, 2016, a new type of learning burst into being with the start of the Innovation and Energy Station in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. The station helps teach students STEM. The station serves sixth grade students as well as serving as a community lab. In 2018, the lab grew again to include the Energy Station at Saburo Muraoka Elementary School. In August of this year, the program grew yet again to include the Hydro Station, which teaches students about the water industry. The lab begins by helping students identify which careers align with their interests while highlighting jobs in San Diego’s priority sectors. “It was designed to give students the opportunity to learn about their own strengths," Michael Bruder, District engineering teacher told 10News. “The students’ eyes light up when they see the lab space. You get the ‘Wow’ effect. You literally hear the students say ‘Wow!’ as they enter,” Bruder continued. At the Energy Station, students use Minecraft to create an energy efficient home and/or landscape. Students exploring other themes could be testing wind turbines or building circuits. The program also offers students a connection with local employers, giving them the chance to connect their hands-on experience and the region’s in-demand skills. Qualcomm, Microsoft, SDG&E, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Electrical Contractors Association all partner with the program. “I want employers to realize that career education must start before high school,” says Matthew Tessier, assistant superintendent of innovation and instruction at CVESD. “We’d love to partner with more people and expand to every single priority sector.”Click here to learn more about the program. 1950

But Tracy also said she would resign if what she calls “cyber bullying” toward her doesn’t stop.Speaking at her Fairfield, Ohio gym, the owner and coach of Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy strongly condemned Nassar and didn’t deny the positive comments she made about the since-convicted sexual abuser to Scripps affiliate WCPO in Cincinnati in December 2016. Tracy’s two-year-old comment sparked a controversy this week when Aly Raisman, an Olympic champion and Nassar survivor, went on Twitter and protested Tracy’s new national post as Elite Development Coordinator.As much as Tracy said she wanted the job, she also said she has received three “fairly threatening emails” and one that said she “should be in a jail cell next to Larry Nassar.” She has also been vilified on social media to the point that she has already told US Gymnastics she would not keep job if it means hurting her family.“What I feel I need to say is that when I saw Aly putting out some things about something I said two years ago as this was all coming out, that was my truth,” Tracy said about her 2016 comments about Nassar, the former national team doctor now accused of sexually assaulting up to 250 women and girls and serving up to 165 years in prison.“Larry had been treating my athletes for well over 25 years and had served them very well and had helped me and my athletes return to action," she said Thursday.  "He had been someone that we all unfortunately had trusted and depended on, so when I was asked about my experience with him, that’s what I said. (AP) — One of two men convicted of stealing a firefighter's pickup truck during the deadliest wildfire in California history has been sentenced to 41 days in jail and three years of probation.The Chico Enterprise-Record reports Robert Depalma of Concow was also ordered to pay more than ,000 in restitution at his sentencing in Butte County Superior Court on Friday.Prosecutors said Depalma and William Erlbacher stole the truck from a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection station on Nov. 8, when the wildfire broke out and largely leveled the town of Paradise and killed 86 people.Erlbacher admitted to taking the truck and Depalma admitted to driving it for several days. The vehicle was damaged and its license plate covered up when it was found in Chico. 799
