SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Google is restarting a practice in which human contractors listen to and transcribe some voice commands people give to the company's artificial intelligence system, Assistant. But this time Google is taking steps to make sure people know what they are agreeing to.The company suspended its transcription practices after more than 1,000 Dutch-language recordings were leaked to the media in Belgium this summer. Google required users to opt-in to the service before audio transcriptions were recorded, but critics have said people didn't fully understand they were agreeing to allow human transcribers to listen in because the company's language was unclear.Amazon, Microsoft, Apple and Facebook have all used similar practices. The companies say it helps make their AI systems more accurate.Now Google will require users to agree again to voice transcription and make it clear human transcribers might listen to recordings. People don't have to opt-in to the service, but certain Assistant features won't be available if they don't.The company also said it will delete most recordings after a few months, and people can review their recordings and delete them manually at any time. 1210

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)— San Diegans are bracing for yet another round of gas price increases. Mike Metroianis has a love-hate relationship with driving.“I do about 300 miles on any given day,” Metroianis said. It is how he makes his living as an Uber and Lyft driver. But it is also why he has to spend a lot of money. He checks gas stations around his routes, always looks for the best prices. “25 cents makes a huge difference,” Metroianis said. According to AAA, the average national price of regular gas is .76 per gallon. But in California, it’s .57 per gallon. Experts say the increases are a result of the unrest in Europe and the Middle East, combined with high demand in the United States. “You dread it every time,” Metroianis said. “You see your gas go down and you’re like… You made all this money, and next thing you know, you’re throwing it right back in the tank. It’s ridiculous.”So ridiculous, Robin Bartlet has completely stopped getting regular gas for her 28-gallon Chevy Avalanche. Luckily, her car takes Flex Fuel, which only costs her .89 per gallon, at a 76 Station in Kearny Mesa. The same station is charging .29 per gallon for regular gas.“Holy sugar!” Bartlet said, looking at the sign for the regular gas. Experts say prices are not getting any sweeter, any time soon. By Memorial Day weekend, Californians may have to pump out on average, more than a gallon. The Bartlets say that is reason enough to not make any travel plans. “We’re not going anywhere,” Bartlet said. “With gas going up more for the holiday, it’s not even worth it.”So what happens to people like Metroianis whose livelihoods depend on gas prices?“If It went to , there’s no way. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A woman who drove off a Northern California cliff last month in an SUV carrying her wife and children was drunk, authorities said Friday.Toxicology tests found Jennifer Hart had an alcohol level of 0.102, said California Patrol Capt. Bruce Carpenter. California drivers are considered drunk with a level of 0.08 or higher.Toxicology tests also found that her wife Sarah Hart and two of their children had "a significant amount" of an ingredient commonly found in the allergy drug Benadryl, which can make people sleepy. Toxicology results for a third child killed are still pending, Carpenter said.Carpenter said none of the car's occupants were wearing seatbelts.Sarah and Jennifer Hart and their six adopted children were believed to be in the family's SUV when it plunged off a cliff in Mendocino County, more than 160 miles (250 kilometers) north of San Francisco.Authorities have said that data from the vehicle's software suggested the crash was deliberate, though the California Highway Patrol has not concluded why the vehicle went off an ocean overlook on a rugged part of coastline. A specialized team of accident investigators is trying to figure that out with help from the FBI, Carpenter said.Five bodies were found March 26 near the small city of Mendocino, a few days after Washington state authorities began investigating the Harts for possible child neglect, but three of their children were not immediately recovered from the scene.Two more are missing and another body has been found but not identified.The 100-foot (31-meter) drop killed the women, both 39, and their children Markis Hart, 19; Jeremiah Hart, 14; and Abigail Hart, 14. SAN DIEGO (KGTV): The San Diego Zoo got quite a surprise this week when one of its Siamang Apes gave birth.It was a surprise because zoo officials had no idea the mother, Eloise, was pregnant.The zoo confirmed the birth to 10News, saying Eloise had been on birth control.The baby was born Monday morning.SDSU student Francelia Amaya was there shortly after the birth. She has been observing the Siamang apes for the past few months as part of a project for her Anthropology class.Amaya says Eloise had been acting oddly that morning."She was really uncomfortable," says Amaya. "She was trying to find the right position. There were a lot of odd behaviors."Amaya got a few pictures and cell phone video of Eloise holding the new baby and swinging around the ape enclosure with the newborn in her arms.Eloise and the baby were taken out of the exhibit shortly after the birth, as was the father. All three are in observation right now.According to the zoo's website, Eloise is "is the best mom a young siamang could hope to have. She's had lots of practice, having given birth to seven youngsters over the years."The zoo says Siamangs are one of a few primate species that form permanent pairs. Eloise and the father, Unkie, have been together since 1987.There's no word from the zoo about how long they'll be kept out of the public eye. 1353
