SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Montgomery High School student wearing a gorilla costume was hospitalized on Halloween after being hit by a golf cart in Otay Mesa West. According to San Diego Police, the student reportedly cracked an egg on the assistant principal's head before running across the street to a nearby park. Police say staff members at the school chased the student in a golf cart. During the chase, police say there was some sort of fight between the staff members and student before there was “some type of contact” between the student and golf cart. The student was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Police say they’re investigating the incident as a battery, but it’s unclear whether or not the student or any staff members will be charged.A spokesperson with the Sweetwater Union High School District responded with the following statement: 870

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A new option for bike lanes along 30th Street in North Park looks like a compromise between cyclists and business owners.The new proposal, called Option A+, would build dedicated, protected bike lanes along a 2.4 mile stretch of 30th Street, stretching from Juniper to Adams Avenue. That's longer than initially planned.In return, business owners will get to keep some of their parking. That stretch has around 550 parking spots. The original plan removed all of them. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego man is accused of having and distributing explicit images of minors.According to a federal complaint that was just unsealed authorities allege Gilad Daniel Reifler knowingly distributed visual depictions of a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct and possessed images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.The federal documents say agents used peer-to-peer file sharing software to connect to his computer in January 2017 and obtain more than four thousand images. Agents say they were able to connect to the computer on two other dates and obtain more sexually explicit files.According to the complaint in June of 2017 agents searched Reifler’s home where they claim he admitted to obtaining and distributing child pornography via the same P2P file-sharing program that they used to obtain the images from a device in his residence.Court documents say, “following the execution of the search warrant I reviewed media seized from Reifler’s residents. The results showed over 170,000 images and over 10,000 videos depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct on media seized.”A man who identified himself has Gilad Reifler told Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin he had no comment about the allegations.10News tried to get a hold of Reifler’s attorney, but as of this writing have not heard back.The FBI tells Team 10 they can’t comment on anything outside of what’s already in the public documents. 1466

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was arrested after deputies say he intentionally drove onto a sidewalk outside an Encinitas bar, seriously injuring several people. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened on the 500 block of South Coast Highway 101 around 1:20 a.m. Deputies say the man, later identified as Christian Davis, 28, was asked to leave The Saloon Bar because he was too intoxicated. RELATED: Man dies following attack in Vista; suspects at-largeAfter leaving the bar, deputies say Davis got into his rental U-Haul van and intentionally drove it onto the sidewalk, hitting three people. One of the victims was taken to Palomar Medical Center while two others were taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital all with serious injuries. Davis was detained by witnesses at the bar before being taken into custody by deputies. Two of the witnesses were injured while detaining Davis and were taken to Scripps Encinitas hospital with minor injuries. The suspect is facing four felony charges including three of attempted first-degree murder and one of attempted escape with force. Davis is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego county father is speaking out about his family's close call caught on video during an off-road race down in Baja, but the driver behind the wheel says it's not what it looks like. Earlier in April, Matt Scarpuzzi of Alpine and hundreds of other drivers were participating in the "San Felipe 250" when he says another driver deliberately drove through a group of spectators, including his wife and two young children. In this type of racing drivers can deviate from the set course as long as they make it to the checkpoints, so technically it wasn't against the rules."I couldn't believe that was the best decision, in my opinion, it jeopardizes the fan safety and it jeopardizes a sport that I love," said Scarpuzzi.The man behind the wheel, B-J Baldwin, spoke to 10News and said it looks worse than it actually was.  "I had 100 percent visibility, I knew where everybody was at, knew everybody was safe. Again I was only going about 2 miles an hour when I drove through these tents," Baldwin said. He posted the video on his Facebook page and offered to replace anything he damaged. "I assured everybody that no one was in danger and I was very very careful when trying to re-enter the course and access the course," said Baldwin.  1317
