An employee of a Virginia Publix grocery store who is deaf and lacks peripheral vision claimed she was assaulted by a customer after the employee said she could not hear the woman, WRIC-TV reported. Liberty Gratz was reportedly stocking a shelf when a woman trying to get Gratz's attention punched her from behind. The punch got Gratz's attention, and Gratz was able to point the woman in the right direction, but the incident left Gratz stunned. "She doesn't have that peripheral vision, so she's really focused on her work," Gratz's mom Jeanette Gratx told WRIC. "She doesn't always notice the people beside her."Liberty Gratz later had store management review video footage, but managers were unable to make out the woman. "She could still feel it when I picked her up from work," Jeanette Gratz told WRIC. "How would you feel if you were working and someone just came up behind you and decided to punch you?"Liberty Gratz told WRIC she wishes she could talk to the woman about being kind to people, whether they have a disability or not.  1110

AMES, N.Y. -- In the tiny village of Ames, New York, new homeowners unearthed a secret history that sounds too far-fetched for reality.Nick Drummond and Patrick Bakker are the owners of the Bootlegger Bungalow. They have been living in the rural home for about a year. They were told it was built by a bootlegger, but they didn’t believe it until their recent renovation brought out the truth.“I was in the process of removing this rotted wood skirting that went around the mudroom sort of where the foundation would be if it was a truly finished structure, and as I’m peeling back the boards on one of the sides, all of the sudden all this hay falls out and I was very confused," Drummond said. "And at first I was like ‘oh this must be insulation’ – of course all this is taking place within a few seconds in my head – and then I look and I’m like ‘well wait a second, what’s that glass thing?'""And then I pull it up and I’m looking at this old liquor bottle, and then I’m looking at the other package and there’s these other little tops poking out of the hay, and then I look back at the wall and there’s like the edge of this other package tied up with string and I’m like ‘holy crap, this is like a stash of booze,’” Drummond said.Sixty-six bottles of Gaelic whisky from the prohibition era were hidden for nearly a century within the walls and floorboards of a little shack tacked onto the side of the house, originally used as a mudroom to store coats and shoes.“It was like you found the jackpot," Bakker said. "Like this is what you always want to find in a house.”The bootlegger who lived there was Count Adolf Humpfner. According to newspapers of the time, he was the talk of the town and involved in a lot of scandal. Drummond says he died a sudden mysterious death, leaving all the bootlegger alcohol behind.“I mean, the guy had a buffalo robe," Drummond said. "I don’t even know what that was. But I’m just imagining this tall, heavy set German guy walking around in a buffalo robe surrounded by dozens of cash registers. Ya know it’s fantastic, I love it, I love thinking about that.”As they continue renovating the house, Drummond and Bakker say they want to preserve its incredible history.“Every building has a story to tell," Drummond said. "And it’s really a matter of peeling back all the different parts and pieces and sort of analyzing them. And you’d be surprised by what you can find.”Keeping only a couple damaged bottles, they say they plan to sell the rest to collectors, each one worth something between and ,200.“At the end of the day, we’re just sitting and we’re like ‘we really like the house so much more now,'” Bakker said. 2672

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KGTV) - "Toy Story" fans will be "eternally grateful" when they visit Disneyland's Tomorrowland this summer. In honor of Pixar Fest, the park will transform Redd Rocket's Pizza Port into "Toy Story's" Alien Pizza Planet, featured prominently in the Pixar animated movies.Pizza Planet is most memorable for its host of little green aliens who worshipped "the claw" (a claw machine) and expressed gratitude upon their rescue from the pizza place (repeating "we are eternally grateful.")RELATED: Several Downtown Disney businesses to close for 700-room hotelAmong the delicious pizza additions will be a specialty pepperoni-green pepper pizza and cheeseburger pizza. The latter of which includes ketchup, yellow mustard and pizza sauce with cheese, slider patties, a house-made burger sauce, and pickles. The change is just one of the park's ways of celebrating Pixar Fest from April 13 through Sept. 3. The festival will cover both Disneyland and California Adventure parks. The festival will also feature the opening of Pixar Pier, where guests can run around with characters from "Toy Story," "The Incredibles," "WALL-E," and "Inside Out." Approximately 44 million turkeys were Thanksgiving dinner in the United States last year, but on Tuesday at the White House, one lucky bird is going to be spared a similar fate.President Donald Trump will participate in the time-honored tradition of the turkey pardon, granting clemency to a bird in the White House Rose Garden before jetting off to Mar-a-Lago for a long holiday weekend.Hailing from South Dakota, this year's pardon contestants are Peas and Carrots. The poultry pair's journey to Washington was a veritable gravy train.Presidential turkeys are raised separately from their soon-to-be-stuffed counterparts, according to the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council.Per the council, Peas and Carrots lived in their own house away from the other turkeys and were handled regularly to "get used to people and activity," as it is important that they wouldn't be in a fowl mood for their big day.Weighing in at 39 and 41 pounds, respectively, Peas and Carrots hatched in late June of this year. Since then, the fluffy duo has developed a social media presence, knowing the importance of appealing to the baste. 1141
