LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) - A La Mesa woman is on the hunt for clues, after she made a startling discovery near a sidewalk during a walk.Along scenic Explorer Road, Patty Serrano was finishing up a walk with a friend one afternoon two Fridays ago, when something on the ground caught her eye."First of all shock. Why is this on the ground? I picked it up. Couldn't believe my luck finding something like that," said Serrano. What she found was an old, wet document.RELATED: Self-driving ship travels from San Diego to Hawaii with no one aboard"Took it home. Dried it and flattened it," said Serrano. The document was a Plank Owner Certificate. Serrano, a retired Navy officer, knew exactly what that meant. "I knew those are rare, issued to people who are the first crew members of a ship," said Serrano. The certificates aren't official Navy documents. They are created and distributed by crew members. The ship attached to this certificate was the U.S.S. Rockwall, a Haskell-class attack transport that served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.The commissioning date listed is January 1945.RELATED: City of San Diego teams up with Marine Corps to advance drone technology"The clue is the member's name. I believe it was Lieutenant Junior Grade H.A. Post, United States Naval Reserve," said Serrano. She posted details of her discovery on the Nextdoor app. She also left messages for neighbors in the area, but so far, no one has come forward."I think it would be great to get back this back to the crew member if he's still alive or the family member ... to preserve it for society, to admire it and understand what the significance was," said Serrano. The theories of how the document ended up on the ground run the gamut. Did it drop out during a move? Did a burglar leave it behind? However it happened, Serrano is determined to find its rightful owner."When you are on that ship, you earn that document. It had great importance to that person ... We have something of historical importance of that time and this document can help tell stories of times gone by," said If you have any information about the certificate's owner, email Tips@10news.com. 2176

LARGO, Fla. — A Largo teen is being hailed a hero for his quick thinking and calm demeanor, two things paramedics say were crucial in saving his dad's life.In August, then 18-year-old Zachary Musgrave reacted in seconds after his dad had a major heart attack in the basement of the family's home."I was pretty terrified. I just held myself together the best I could," Musgrave said.Musgrave quickly dialed 911 an got through to 911 telecommunicator Matthew Albright, who coached him through performing CPR for the very first time."He was cool, calm and collected and followed directions to do exactly what he needed to do," Albright said. For seven minutes, Musgrave performed CPR on his dad before paramedics arrived. It's something first responders say saved his dad's life.Niesa Jones was one of the first Sunstar Paramedics to arrive on the scene."That's absolutely what happened," she said. "His son saved his life. We helped."David Musgrave, Zachary's father, was rushed to Largo Medical Center, and just nine days after his heart attack, he was cleared to come home. Paramedics called his recovery a miracle because he came into the hospital under cardiac arrest with a 100% blockage in his left anterior descending artery — what some refer to as a "widowmaker heart attack.""I looked at his charts and it's truly a miracle that the man is walking," said Patti Squires, the Associate Chief Nursing Officer at Largo Medical Center.David Musgrave says his son has become his hero."I'm so proud of him. If it wasn't for him starting the process, I probably wouldn't be here," he said."I'm just thankful that I was there and I was able to save my dad. I'm just happy he's here with us today," Zachary Musgrave said.On Wednesday, David Musgrave and his four children met the first responders that helped keep him alive.Alana Morris, one of the first Largo Firefighter paramedics to arrive on the scene, said the ceremony was touching."To actually have a patient come back and thank us for what we did and to see him alive was just a great experience. There are no words to describe that," Morris said. Now, the Musgrave family's story is inspiring a new mission to save lives. On Nov. 3 at noon, Largo Medical Center will offer free hands-only CPR training online, which will be open to everyone. The training can be found on Largo Medical Center's Facebook page and will be broadcast live. The hands-only training is especially crucial as COVID-19 concerns continue to impact Floridians' daily lives and local medical leaders say not everyone may be comfortable performing mouth-to-mouth."I think that everybody should learn CPR because that's what saved my life," David Musgrave said. This story was originally published by Sarah Hollenbeck on WFTS in Tampa, Florida. 2774

Listening to music while being placed on hold is a scenario many of us are all too familiar with. But did you know some companies are listening to you while you’re waiting for an operator to answer? It happened to September Adams, when she was calling about her student loans. Towards the end of the call, she became frustrated, and the company's recording caught it.Adams says she made a comment she now regrets. However, she says she didn’t know she was being recorded. 478

Liquidation sales are finally starting at hundreds of Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores around the US, as the troubled toy retailer begins the process of going out of business. Most stores will start their liquidation sales Thursday, March 22, at 10 a.m. or when doors open.Millions of parents and children are dreaming of bargains on Barbies and savings on Star Wars. But before you grab an empty shopping cart and start hunting for Black Friday-style bargains, you may want to know a few cautions. If earlier Toys R Us closing sales are any indication, among the 200 stores that started liquidating in February, you may want to bring some skepticism along with your wallet. We went to one store at the beginning of its closing sale, and shoppers said they were not impressed. So here are 9 commonly asked questions:1. How big are the discounts? In the first week, they may not be great.  We found signs saying "up to 40 percent off," but most items had much less of a discount than 40 percent?off. Ten or 20 percent off was more the norm in the first few days, and 10 percent off may not be any great deal.2. Will they discount recent sales prices?  No, as with any liquidation sale, discounts are off full list price. Because of that, our check found that Lego sets and video games like Call of Duty were no cheaper than the same items at Walmart, despite the 20 percent markdown.3. Is everything on markdown? They may be this time.  However, among stores that started liquidating in February, diapers, baby wipes, and formula were not on sale.  That may change, as stores need to clear out everything this time.4. How do you know if the item is a deal? You may want to use a price comparison app like RedLaser, where you scan the bar code of the toy you are thinking of buying, to see if it is cheaper elsewhere. Or simply look up the item on Amazon or Walmart.com.5. Will they honor gift cards? Yes, until April 15th, according to the store.  But you may want to use them in the next week, because pickings will get slimmer and slimmer as the days go on.6. What if something is broken or missing? You will be stuck. All sales are final.7. What about the Babies R Us gift registry?  That will stay open until the stores close, but parents of newborns may want to start a new registry somewhere else.  8. Is Babies R Us really closing? For now, yes. Babies R Us may stay open IF a buyer steps forward.  Rumors have Amazon buying some Babies R Us and top performing Toys R Us stores, but nothing is confirmed yet.9. When will you find the best deals?  Typically a week after the sale starts, when most items remaining drop to 50 percent off.  But you won't find the hottest toys (Playstations, Apple products, American Girl dolls, etc) after the first few days.As always, don't waste your money.________________________"Don't Waste Your Money" is a registered trademark of Scripps Media, Inc.
