(KGTV) — An East County contractor made a huge investment in the lives and well-being of a pair of employees and their special needs son by gifting them a custom van.The gift for 14-year-old Hayden Welsh, who has spina bifida, and his family was presented by A.M. The van is retro-fitted with adaptive equipment, a power ramp, and a low floor for the family, designed to help the family and Hayden get around easier as he grows up."Yeah it makes a world of difference between lifting him, putting him in a chair worrying about him trying to transfer, this thing he's ready to roll in and go," Hayden's mom, Ashley, said. "It was 100% shocking. It's going to make our lives so much easier. I've been looking at vans but financially I can't make that jump."Company owner Maurice Ortega said the gift couldn't go to a more deserving kid."Hayden's had so many surgeries, and he comes flying through the door a few days after surgery, and he pops in my office and he goes, 'what up Mo?,'" said Ortega. LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas leader wants the city's airport renamed amid a wave of racial unrest and calls for removing brands, tributes and other items with racially-charged origins.McCarran International Airport, located next to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, is arguably one of the most prominent places in Southern Nevada.In 1948 it was named for Sen. Patrick McCarran, a powerhouse in both state and national politics.McCarran represented Nevada from 1933 until his death in 1954 in Washington, D.C.During his time in public office, he was considered one of the biggest supporters of aviation, which was still getting off the ground in the 1930s, and sponsored key legislation that helped shape the modern air travel industry.However, historians have pointed out that McCarran's legacy is marred by racism, xenophobia and antisemitism."Pat McCarran was an evil man," Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom said.Segerblom wants to scrub McCarran's name from the airport and introduced a bill in the Nevada Legislature in 2017 to do just that."To have the first thing when you come to Nevada (be) McCarran Airport — when you look at his history, that's just unacceptable," Segerblom said.Segerblom wanted to rename the airport for longtime Nevada Sen. Harry Reid (D), but the bill ultimately failed."First off, I want to get rid of the name, but secondly, I want to honor Sen. Reid, he is really the father of modern Nevada," Segerblom said.There was push back, and Segerblom says he believes opponents felt using Reid's name as a replacement was too politically partisan."Our kids grow up hearing about McCarran airport; they don't know what that its, but they don't realize we are honoring somebody who didn't believe I should even be a citizen or have the right to vote, that's wrong," Segerblom said.Critics who are opposed to renaming the airport say McCarran was a critical part of history, and attempting to scrub his name from Las Vegas will not change that. LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - Divers searched the San Vicente Reservoir Saturday for a missing 12-year-old girl, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and San Diego Police said.The girl fell off a ski-type boat and into the water Saturday afternoon while with her family, officials said.The search started at 6 p.m. Saturday with seven divers from San Diego Fire-Rescue. The team later found the girl’s damaged life jacket in the water.By Saturday evening, the search was designated a recovery mission instead of a rescue. Divers stopped the search as night fell.The reservoir is 306 feet deep when full. It is a popular recreation spot for boating and fishing. No swimming is permitted unless it is related to water activities including water-skiing and wake boarding.The San Vicente Reservoir will be closed Sunday, according to officials. The dive team will resume recovery work at dawn with the help of sonar technology.The girl's identity was not released. 965

LeBron James is being sued after being accused of stealing an idea for a TV show, according to TMZ Sports.Adventure Enterprises said in the lawsuit that it pitched a TV show to LeBron called "Shop Talk," where celebrities share their business success stories while getting haircuts in a barbershop, TMZ Sports reports.The tabloid said the company claims it had several talks with LeBron's company, UNINTERRUPTED, about the idea. The talks reportedly went on for two years, fleshing out all the details for a strategy pitch to networks.Adventure Enterprises claims LeBron cut the company out and created a ripoff show called "The Shop," featuring LeBron in a barbershop with others talking about cultural experiences, according to TMZ.
