(KGTV) - The city of Oceanside is moving forward with new medical marijuana regulations.Oceanside City Council approved regulating the manufacturing of medical marijuana and cultivation, but continued barring new dispensaries.The proposal allows the testing, cultivation and sale of medical marijuana within city limits.Oceanside currently allows the delivery and consumption of medical marijuana in private residences.City leaders had been eying the measure since the end of last year when they formed an ad-hoc committee for the cannabis regulations.The proposal will go back for a second reading, and would go into effect after 30 days from then.   669

(KGTV) — Tourists tossing coins into Walt Disney World's fountains this year went toward fulfilling the wishes of hundreds of homeless individuals in Florida.The theme park donated ,000 in wishing well coins found in the park's fountains to the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. The coins went toward making the coalition's meal for the coalition's nearly 650 residents.The group provides housing, emergency services, and diversion for local homeless men, women, and children in Central Florida."Every year, thousands of guests toss coins into fountains at our Resort and make a wish, and this year the funds collected from those fountains are being given to the Coalition to help make their annual Thanksgiving meal service possible," according to Tajiana Ancora-Brown, director of external affairs at Walt Disney World Resort.According to the Associated Press, the feast required seven kitchens, 250 pounds of turkey, 60 gallons of gravy and cranberry compote, 300 pounds of cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans, 800 dinner rolls, and 72 apple and pumpkin pies.Walt Disney World also donated hundreds of to-go containers for the meal. 1175

(KGTV) - While support for medical marijuana is speeding up on a state level and in nationwide opinion polls, federal advancement is slowing due to research and approval gridlock. There’s no denying the popularity of marijuana in the United States, with THC and cannabis products approved for medical use in 33 states. Recreational use is supported in 11 states, including California. The election results are echoed in a 2016 Quinnipiac University poll which showed 81 percent of Americans support medical marijuana legalization. California's support of medical marijuana started more than two decades ago when voters passed Proposition 215, the “Compassionate Use Act of 1996.” Laws calling for regulation of medical marijuana were passed in 2015 and 2016, with recreational marijuana becoming legal in 2018. While voters increasingly approve marijuana legalization in various states across the country, the federal government has been slower to grant permission for use.
